Not slows down, not retreats—freezes in place. That image of an unstoppable tide just... stopping dead because one guy grabbed a fruit? Chef's kiss. But here's what really got me—the system cheat. He used some purchased Qi Luck Talisman to decode the Sacred Fruit. I love when the protagonist has a clear mechanical advantage but still has to make the right calls under pressure. He didn't just win because of the cheat; he won because he was fast enough to use it when it mattered. That's good plot writing. The cheat is a tool, not a replacement for tension. And then the twist within the twist—he can't move after grabbing it. His mind gets pulled somewhere else. Qin Jiujiu stays behind when everyone else flees. The ground collapses and they both fall into... something else entirely. The narrative keeps flipping the script. You think they're safe, then they're not. You think the remnant soul is the threat, then you realize it's a trap. The author really knows how to keep you on your toes. "I am the owner of the Divine Mirror." — that line from the remnant soul hit differently after everything. This whole trial was designed for someone specific, and Ning Bei just stumbled into the inheritance by being the one who grabbed the fruit. Classic xianxia fate trope done right.

This novel and its parts are well-developed. The characters are real and seem to jump out of the page. The writer's expression is of very high order and the flow of the story pacy. I very highly recommend this author. I have to say the author is very accomplished.
