But the bedroom scene is where the worldbuilding really hurts. The text describes it in painful detail: "a master bedroom, a lounge, two walk-in closets, two bathrooms, and an oversized balcony." This is a house built for a couple who actually live together, and they're using every inch of it to avoid each other. The fact that she sleeps on the large bed while he sleeps in the lounge outside—this physical geography of their marriage tells you everything about their emotional distance. The bedroom isn't a romantic space; it's a battleground where she has to armor up in "long-sleeved, full-length pajama set, covering herself completely." And then there's the old mansion itself—empty because Old Master Gu and Old Madam Gu aren't home, and Sheng Xia "didn't want to stay at the old mansion for even a minute." This house is a gilded cage, and she knows it. Every room, every door, every piece of furniture reinforces her status as someone who belongs there but isn't really part of it.
The narrative initially captivated me, as if I'd stumbled upon a hidden gem. Alas, my enthusiasm waned by the time I reached Chapter 21; it seemed somewhat stagnant. The protagonist's preoccupation with her thoughts made it difficult for me to empathize with the male lead's character development. Moreover, his lack of honesty weighed on my appreciation. Despite these shortcomings, the book remains an enjoyable read – just one to savor gently.

This is good. Not the best read, but seriously to me its like top 5-10 which is impressive. Also some novels make you feel pain and suffering, and this one made me feel some (at one point)which might seem bad but it's good as it was able to get me that invested in it. Look this has been a bad review but I'm tired from binging chapters, you should give this a fair shot
Interesting. I read around a 100 chapters when it first released and it didn't give me the kingdom building vibe. The growing stronger vibe was super duper strong tho
