beginning was shocking and painfull, but the way it develops and continous is great! really good, love how it's written. can't wait till the rest of the story!

I love this book already.
Let me just quote this because it's perfect: 'From now on, we're allies. We have to share blessings together.' ... 'When trouble comes, we each fly our own way. I refuse to share hardships.' The internal monologue right after the spoken dialogue is absolutely hilarious. She says one thing out loud and thinks the complete opposite. This is the kind of narrative voice that makes reading feel like eavesdropping on someone's chaotic thoughts. And Xue Yao's dialogue style is so distinct. Everything is cold, clipped, laced with mockery. 'Nice story.' 'Isn't strategizing precisely Miss Lu's strength?' 'I will follow your arrangements entirely.' Each line is a little jab disguised as politeness. He never says what he actually means, which makes every conversation between them a verbal sparring match. The humor in the dialogue is also top-tier. Lu Dantao's internal吐槽 about male leads being abnormal, her frustration at being dumped with all the work in what she imagined would be a simple alliance—these moments of comedic relief break up the tension perfectly. The author knows when to let the characters breathe and when to tighten the screws. What I appreciate most is how the dialogue reveals character without any exposition. You know Xue Yao is paranoid and calculating because of how he speaks. You know Lu Dantao is pragmatic and slightly chaotic because of her internal monologue. The author trusts the dialogue to do the heavy lifting, and it pays off.
Layla is so full of Spunk and Fire...my Kind of girl! This story gets more interesting the more it is unraveled. Excited to learn more about their past?
