Really appreciate the multiple chapter update ...
one year ,365 days and Gabriel had been screwing behind her back. Using a bottle was even nice ,she should have thrown a fridge at him.
exhilarating!!
Very repetitive book and the ending was unsatisfying. The storyline had so much potential but the author seemed undecided about whether she wanted a Strong Female Lead or a Damsel in Distress because the female lead has character growth but then she reverts to weak and self-doubting again and again
100%..., I recommend the book ...
I can't review the third chapter without revealing spoilers.
It's a great read if you need something different from my-mate-rejected-me tropes
Was hooked from the first chapter....
Interesting plot and I love the characters.
Please forgive me, my dear readers. I feel extremely sorry for updates. I am trying my best to give daily updates. a few days ago, massive storm hit my region which effected internet and electricity service in my area and I am also dealing with severe health issues but an update is on the way.
I need to talk about Xie Cheng's dialogue because the man does NOT waste words and every single one of them hits different. "This dress doesn't suit you." Pause. "Tacky." Two sentences. Two sentences that contain an entire thesis on Wen Yan's situation. He's not just talking about the dress. He's talking about the engagement. He's talking about Qi Siye abandoning her on her wedding dress shopping trip. He's talking about everything. And he says it with this cold, detached delivery that makes it hit even harder. Then later in the hospital bathroom: "Qi Siye is right next door. You can shout louder if you want." What does that even mean?! Is he threatening her? Is he reminding her that she's not actually free? Is he jealous and masking it with cruelty? I can't tell and I need answers. The ambiguity is driving me insane in the best way. And Wen Yan's dialogue is equally telling. She's so restrained, so careful. "I'm fine, no need to worry." "He's inside." She never lets anyone see her actually fall apart. Even when she's hopping on one foot toward the bathroom looking "disheveled and comical," she maintains this wall. The only time her voice actually trembles is when she's talking to Xie Cheng, and even then it's barely noticeable. The narrative voice itself is sharp and unsentimental—almost journalistic, which makes sense given that Wen Yan is a reporter. It doesn't over-explain emotions, it just presents them. Like when Wen Yan thinks: "Fools repeat foolish actions yet expect different outcomes. She was even more foolish—knowing the outcome yet still doing it." That's not narration, that's a verdict. The author trusts the reader to feel the weight without spelling it out.
I love the story. ...️...️...️
