Author please don’t abandon this book......
Great story. I love a strong female lead. The plot is engaging and the synopsis made me laugh. I have not reached the ending but whereever it ends I will reach it.
keron please be gentle?
Okay, first of all—can we talk about how Pei Jingzhou is literally the most restrained husband in the history of arranged marriages? Like, he wakes up to find his wife wrapped around him like a human octopus and his FIRST response is just a cold "Can you let go?" Not yelling, not pushing her off violently, just... deadpan exhaustion. That's character depth right there. But then the real moment hits when he takes the blame in front of his mother for Jiang Zhaoyue grabbing his sleeve. Madam Wang calls her out for lacking propriety and Pei Jingzhou steps in like "it was my fault." Jiang Zhaoyue literally feels warmth in her chest because she REALIZES he's protecting her. But here's what gets me—later that night, after their argument about her parents, he's thinking "No wonder everyone said Jiang Zhaoyue was unruly, untalented, immoral, and lawless" and calling himself "far too naive" to think he could guide her. The man is SO conflicted. He's caught between genuine care and societal conditioning, and it shows in every interaction. He slows his walking pace for her. He takes the blame publicly. But then he also calls her unreasonable and walks away mid-conversation. This is not a villain—this is a man who genuinely doesn't know how to process someone who doesn't fit the mold he was raised to respect. And honestly? That makes him way more interesting than a flat "cold husband" archetype. The question is: when does he stop seeing her as a project and start seeing her as a person? Because the seeds are definitely there.
Wow... ? the story is becoming more intense & I can’t wait for the next chapters.. ??
Very different to anything I've read before!
The English used in the beginning were a little unusual and made it seem like English isnt the authors first language. It does get better. The story was a little drawn out and unusual at points, but I was really getting drawn into the plot when 80% through the entire plot and story change completely
Not sure if I can finish this book. Very redundant. Beat the girl, girl cries over and over. Get on with it.
The character, the plot, th diction, everything is spot on. Amazing book, wonderful author
