'The closer he came to having her, the more afraid he was of losing her!' This line. This single line from Huo Shengbai's internal monologue completely reframes everything that just happened. I went into this section thinking it was a straightforward romance-protection fantasy. Rich guy saves girl from bullies. Cute. But then I hit that paragraph and suddenly Huo Shengbai isn't just a savior—he's a man who waited two minutes outside while his rival drove away, deliberately letting Wen Zhili see Huo Cheng's true colors, manipulating the situation because he's terrified she'll go back. The stakes here are layered in a way that made me put the book down. On the surface: Wen Zhili's reputation is destroyed, she's being harassed, people are calling her a slut. Those stakes are huge and real. But underneath: Huo Shengbai is fighting his own insecurity. He knows she chose him, but he doesn't trust that she'll keep choosing him. So he gives her a black card with no limit, offers to pay her to teach him pipa, positions himself as her protector—all while secretly hoping she'll never look at anyone else again. And Wen Zhili's internal conflict is equally sharp. She spent her past life loving a man who despised her, and now she's learning to fight back. The moment she swings her bag at Huo Cheng and says 'I'll go tell Master Huo'—that's not just revenge. That's her claiming power she never had before. She's not afraid of consequences anymore. She's done being the good girl who takes it.
very good story
I didn't like the first couple of chapters. I didn't like the idea of them sending her away, but then as the story went on and things were explained, I loved the book!!! Now I'm hoping for a second book or more chapters Lol

I know Henry's old, but he needs to pay. He had Stupid Kathy lie about being his savior, he let his other grandson try to kill Issac's baby & have his girl gang raped. Wants Issac with a moron, He let his son's ruthless wife try to drown him. they killed his parents. His Issac really his grandson?
thr this story, woman get courage n understand, there r options to stop martial abuse. I love the character of ivanna n Chris, they r down-to-earth people, even if they have nothing, they r happy with each other, instead of materialistic things, they love each other fully n understand each other...
I should have read the comments before spending so much money on the book. The book starts out really good aside from the slight inaccurate name use. But then the story changes around chapter 45 it made no sense so I am walking away. I feel that the author should reevaluate what the story line be .
This is really good novel. Part 1 and part 2 both. Very excited to read this.
