I've reconsidered... This novel is quite disappointing. Initially, it had potential with engaging character interactions and the possibility of character growth. However, there's a glaring issue – there's zero reason for the "ideal" female lead to fall for the protagonist from the start. Their connection feels completely lacking chemistry. Maybe she's just a sadist because the main character, who stutters and struggles to communicate, is constantly intimidated by her friends. As the story progresses, the MC's personality seems to shift predictably, turning into a vengeful figure after past betrayals.
The author keeps emphasizing the MC's broken heart and emotional detachment, yet he contradicts himself early on, showing kindness to the girl despite his history. A normal person would struggle with trust, but the MC's transition is sudden and unconvincing – he becomes cold initially but quickly warms up.
It appears the author assumed the fanbase was solid and started filling the narrative with unnecessary chapters and characters. Unfortunately, there's very little substance. The plot twists are lackluster and barely contribute to the MC's development. His eventual return to the group comes across as weak.
In terms of the first arc, I'll give it 3 out of 5 points for the intriguing power-up system, but it's not explored further. The rest of the story earns a mere 1 out of 5 – it's dreadfully boring, mostly relying on fan service and padding rather than meaningful content.
Idk man. I saw some comments raving about this novel so I gave it a chance. 50+ chapters in, I can’t continue. Compared to other magic / magus/magic novels this MC seems dense and edgy with a lot of plot convenience. Also, never really liked MC’s shouting out their spells to cast them.
Unless someone wishes to claim that this novel improves by a whole lot, (which doesn’t seem to be the case gauging off of the more critical reviews,) I’m dropping this novel.
This is an amusing story, not suitable for everyone or every mood, but that's typical. I'll share my observations, highlighting both positive and negative aspects. Let's begin with the downsides:
1. **Mary Sue/Gary Stu Protagonist:** The main character comes across as overly perfect, with her god-like status and striking appearance, capturing everyone's attention effortlessly. The story's excessive praise can feel cringe-worthy at times, and it's unclear if it's meant to be self-aware or genuinely serious.
2. **Generic Heroine:** The protagonist acts as a typical "champion of justice," always knowing right from wrong and getting into trouble. While not the worst kind, she is a bit one-dimensional compared to other similar characters. Her relationship with the MC borders on overprotection, akin to a doting grandfather.
Now, let's look at the positives:
1. **Balanced Power:** Unlike typical reincarnated heroes, the Hero King retains some of his strength but lacks the omnipotence of his past self. He learns to rely on physical prowess and can imitate artifacts' effects, but not manipulate mana efficiently.
2. **Realistic Regression:** Humans have lost their mana abilities but possess advanced magical artifacts. The protagonist sees these as placeholders, acknowledging the complexity of the artifacts and the presence of futuristic technology without resorting to convenient cheats.
3. **Battle Obsession:** The MC's love for combat is genuine and reminiscent of Goku from Dragon Ball Z. She seeks strong opponents, battles regardless of alliances, and actively engages in fights, distinguishing herself from a conventional hero.
4. **Power Hiding:** With her unique abilities, the MC chooses to remain independent, hiding her true strength behind a rune-free facade, allowing her to showcase her agility and avoid societal constraints.
5. **Plot Progression:** Although not a masterpiece, the story has a clear goal and avoids being purely a slice-of-life. It moves along briskly, providing moments of comedy amidst action, like protecting party food from monsters.
6. **Self-Awareness:** Despite predictable elements, the protagonist's battle junkie nature keeps the story engaging, subverting clichés and introducing fresh twists. Even generic characters are redeemed through the protagonist's reactions.
In summary, the story offers a mix of enjoyable elements and familiar tropes, with a balance between action, humor, and character development.

i see some discourse about harems here!! well, i understand both sides. typical harem where mc walks around collecting every lady in sight, with hardly a single man mentioned aside from antagonists. well, ladies and gents, that’s because MOST harem novels are in fact trash. but that doesn’t apply to every single one. void evolution system is one of my favorite novels on here, and while i haven’t finished it just yet, i really enjoy the way it spun the harem genre. there’s actually some romantic development, rather than every woman in the vicinity falling for him for no reason. the harem is mostly a subplot, though it is more prominent as you continue the story. the mcs main goal is to gain strength, and he knows that until he reaches the peak, he needs allie’s to cover for how weaknesses, which happens to come in the form of his pretty ladies. anyways.. highly recommend for those who both do and don’t enjoy harem!
