Great but sad storyline.....Too many author comments throughout the story which made it longer at the end I feel like the author just gave up....dont plan on reading another story

I need to talk about this scene because it absolutely destroyed me. You know that moment when Xu Chi calls home and You Chumu answers with this bright, excited "Brother!" and Xu Chi just... pauses? That pause says everything. He's been through something, he's tense, he's guarded — and this kid's voice just cuts through all of it. And then You Chumu says he blew up the kitchen. The way Xu Chi swallows his curse and asks if he's okay? That's not just concern for property damage. That's genuine worry. He's an assassin on the run, living a lie, and his first instinct is still to check if the kid is hurt. But then You Chumu flips it back on him: "What do you mean by all right, brother?" And Xu Chi can't answer. Because he doesn't know how to explain that the world he's in is dangerous, that the people around them could hurt him, that he's barely keeping them both alive. And the worst part — the absolute worst part — is when You Chumu is sitting there with a burned arm, forcing himself to smile, suppressing that madness bubbling underneath, and the moment Xu Chi looks up, he's instantly pitiful again. "It hurts, brother." That line. That small voice. Xu Chi notices nothing. He's so focused on the surface that he misses the entire storm happening beneath it. This relationship is so tragically one-sided in its understanding. Xu Chi thinks he's protecting You Chumu by keeping him close, but he has no idea what You Chumu is actually capable of. And You Chumu? He's performing innocence like it's a second language, and the only person he performs it for is the one person who can't see through it.

seems like an interesting plot with driven characters. some ellipses in the blurb could be omitted, but overall, it's got an intriguing premise
