I honestly don't see the appeal of a tsundere

The storyline is truly engaging, and the world-building is impressive. Even after reading up to chapter 30 and beyond, I found myself so absorbed in the plot that I momentarily forgot it was aBL (boys' love) novel. I don't mind a slow burn romance, as the narrative holds my interest.
However, there's one aspect that detracts from the experience – the Main Character (the seme) comes across as a womanizing and promiscuous character, engaging in casual sexual encounters with anyone available, including the protagonist. This dynamic is particularly off-putting, especially when it happened in an early scene, around chapter 38, which I had initially hoped would mark the beginning of their romantic journey. It's disappointing because, at chapter 16, there were hints about his behavior that further solidified this impression.
While I have come across steamy stories with more explicit content, they often balance those elements well with the overall plot. In contrast, this character's actions feel gratuitous and inappropriate for the romantic narrative, taking away from the intended emotional depth. It's unfortunate how this aspect affects the story's appeal.
Based on the positive reviews, I had higher expectations for this novel, but unfortunately, it fell short for me. The storyline was promising, but the characters, particularly the main character (MC), were the weak link. As a magician, I was hoping for more captivating tricks and cunning plots, but surprisingly, the MC consistently finds themselves outwitted by the love interest (ML) instead.
The supporting characters lack depth and distinct personalities, which makes them feel one-dimensional. The ML's overwhelming power level, revealed as a spoiler, was disappointing. There was supposed to be a competitive dynamic between the two, but the stark contrast in their abilities takes away from that tension.
My initial enthusiasm was high, but given these issues, I think it's time for me to discontinue reading this novel.
