I'm in... next chapter please ❤?
Loved the way the author slowly chipped away at my cold heart and set it on fire with Henry's undying love for Aurora! O.M.G. One of my faves so far!

book is amazing! the chapters I can't continue reading
Loved this book! It was awesome from the first chapter to the last one!
I need to talk about Zhang Zhiyan and Liao Chuan because THIS is what I'm here for. The emotional dynamics between them are absolutely fascinating. She has zero feelings for him—like, physically and mentally uncomfortable, the text literally says. And he? He's trying so hard to provoke her, to get a reaction, and she just... doesn't give it to him. The scene where he comes to her room and she says, 'I'm afraid the heir has misunderstood. My wish is not for you to stay by my side, but for you to become a Qianhu in the Dianqian Si'—I literally screamed. That is the coldest, most devastating burn I've ever read. She wraps it in polite, gentle words but it's pure mockery. And he storms out. She doesn't even flinch. But what really got me was the maid conversation. Lüyin and Lüzhu talking about buying a house in Tongque Alley 'if one day our mistress leaves Huguo Gongfu.' They genuinely want her to be happy and free. And Lüzhu's line—'As long as our mistress is well, we will naturally be well too'—that hit me in a way I didn't expect. It's a different kind of love, not romantic but deeply loyal, and it makes the whole world feel more real. And then Liao Mingzhu at the end, with that 'sinister smile, somewhat terrifying, like the calm before utter madness'—chills. Absolute chills. She's been broken and twisted by everything that's happened to her, and now she's coming for someone.
I don't really like the ending a lot. But that's just my opinion; it's not bad, just a bit cliché. The beginning parts are pretty good, but it becomes somewhat lackluster towards the end. I don't like the character Jim. He seems hypocritical—while he says he feels bad about his father's actions, he doesn't want to give up what he's gained from those misdeeds. The main character (MC) is really nice, as is the male lead (ML), but I feel like we haven't had enough time to bond with them. A short story isn't a bad thing if it's executed well, but the author hasn't quite struck the right balance between character personalities, development, and story progression. It's an okay story for me—not terrible, but I probably won't read it again. However, the translation is pretty good, so that earns it an extra star.
Overall, the story was quite enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the FL's character and the ML's development, as they had a clear affection for each other from the beginning. Their relationship felt heartwarming and genuine. The supporting characters added depth to the plot, making it quite engaging. While the narrative held my interest, there were a few missing tags on NU, such as first-time intimate scenes, romance, and devoted love interests, which would have been helpful. Despite some translation errors regarding pronoun usage, causing occasional confusion, I would still give this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars. If you're looking for a modern romance set in a gang backdrop with a strong and devoted male lead, this is definitely worth reading.
Hello there! I'm your translator. I chose this project for its lighthearted and low-drama nature. The main characters faced minimal obstacles, just needing time to develop their relationship. What stood out was the supportive dynamics among the characters, including their respective partners. It made for a refreshing and enjoyable read. If you prefer stories with minimal conflict, I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try.
2.2 stars is diabolical
