in chapter 19 it suddenly is a different book with different names, why?? Sad too because I liked the storyline of the first 18 chapters...

Because immediately after the excitement, the story slaps her with reality: she still has no abilities. None. Zero. And she needs them because "if she wanted to earn Favorability, she'd first have to survive the apocalypse herself." That's the conflict that keeps the tension alive even in chapters that seem calm. The external stakes are clear — apocalypse is coming, her father is overseas and unreachable, she's preparing alone. But the internal stakes are what really get me. She's calculating, strategizing, understanding that maxing out Favorability for three people means she'd need to completely win them over, and none of them are easy. The text specifically mentions He Xiao as someone she'd have to rely on "careful planning, clever tactics, and maybe even a few tricks" to handle. So she's not just fighting the apocalypse — she's fighting to survive long enough to become strong enough to survive the apocalypse. That's a double layer of stakes that most novels don't manage. And the suspense about her father? That knot of panic in chapter 9 doesn't go away, it just gets pushed aside so the plot can move forward. It's still there, simmering. Every time I finish a chapter I'm left wondering: will she see him again? Is he safe? What happens when the apocalypse actually hits and she's still figuring out her abilities? The author knows exactly how to keep you anxious without ever screaming about it.
