It's a story about a civilization which is suffering from the lack of energy and matter. That's not because of they wasted too much of them but due to their bad luck. Their planet is the only planet on their solar system and their solar system is the only one around hundreds of light years. You'll be shocked by how the civilizations tried to struggle, survive the frustration and how they finally got saved or elimated. This will also make you think about ourselves, the human race. Y'zaks in the novel once said, "I just can't understand you human. You have a perfectly beautiful solar system and rich matter and energy around you. You'll have much more opportunities than the unlucky ones. But you humankind don't unite together and even war for all kinds of boring reasons. That's not good. The story is pretty fast paced, romance seems a little rush. More time with character development would definitely smoothen things out. Overall good story.
