Rating: 3.5/5
In a video game programmer's dream, he finds himself transported to an immersive RPG-like magical world where he instantly becomes overpowered (OP). Although initially bewildered, he grows even more powerful, gathers a group of admirers误认为是后宫, improves his social standing, and aids others, all while exploring the fantastical realm, battling demons, monsters, and navigating labyrinths.
The protagonist exhibits a laid-back attitude, concealing his immense abilities, and has a somewhat naive disposition. Key elements include summoning to another world, a rich fantasy backdrop, RPG-style combat, diverse creatures, gods, and encounters with various challenges. The story maintains a light-hearted tone, avoiding slow pacing or excessive repetition common in similar tales.
Positive aspects include the creative use of an OP main character and the gradual development of the world's lore. The author avoids gratuitous slice-of-life chapters and keeps the plot engaging.
However, potential drawbacks include the protagonist's overwhelming power, leading to a lack of meaningful challenges. His attempt to hide his abilities can feel forced at times, and the 'harem' is largely fictional with minimal romantic development. A significant plot twist occurs abruptly, introducing a love interest, but romance remains minimal. The MC's goody-two-shoes nature and reluctance to cause harm create a less dramatic narrative, as conflicts are easily resolved with his OP abilities.
There's a mystery surrounding his arrival, but it's underdeveloped, and numerous side characters are introduced without proper follow-up. The translation quality is decent but marred by minor errors and occasional confusion.
While the story may not be perfect, it offers sufficient entertainment and新鲜 ideas to make it worth reading for fans of the genre. Some issues, such as the OP protagonist and lack of depth in character arcs, might be deal-breakers for some readers.
Additional notes: The light novel adaptation is said to have better writing, with more refined details compared to the web novel. The anime adaptation is scheduled for release in late 2017 or early 2018, and a manga adaptation may exist as well. However, the LN is currently behind the WN in terms of updates.
Is this about regression again, I'm a bit hesitant to read it
The author screws up the timeline at every conceivable point that he could. Like there is this one war in the Spirit Realm that involved 100 races and I have no clue if it was a 1000 year war, a 100,000 year war or a 500,000 year war because the author can't get his facts straight. Within a span of 2 chapters, the facts of this war changed several times. There was just no effort whatsoever put into creating a plausible timeline of events. Also, there are mixes of multiple translators, so terminology often changes because the different translators want to call things by different names. There are many paragraphs that are incomplete as well. Most chapters have at least 1 or 2 paragraphs that just end halfway through a sentence, and a few times there was clearly important information missing that was extremely relevant to the plot. Also, I personally dislike the 3 heads and 6 arms cultivation technique that Chinese people are so crazy for. The thought of it disgusts me and I don't want to read about it. I quit reading this once that became Han Li's primary cultivation method. I just don't want it. It's stupid.
What chapter should I read after chapter 122 of the webtoon?
Now on chapter 91.. All I can say is.. this is a ****ing good novel. Unlike some history genre, this story doesn't spend 3 to 4 paragraph to explain history.. The story is direct when reacting to mc capability, not going so far to praise him so much like some face slapping plot Chinese novel.. what I like the most, the character was dynamic almost hinting he was going to be the next eren yeager.. each plot affected him and the plot isn't there just to waste his time on something unrelated to his goal.. This is definitely a dark military story.
