Okay, let me just say—this chapter had me physically gripping my phone. The Xu Qin confrontation? Chef's kiss. Meng Yanchen finally snaps and lays into her about that bathroom scandal, and I nearly fell out of my chair. The way he uses the marionette as a metaphor without even saying it outright—"we've been puppets in the Meng family long enough"—and then she turns it back on him? That's some next-level dramatic irony right there. But the real plot bomb drops when Fan Shengmei spots Yang Chengdong at the Guokun roadshow. This guy was suspended for misconduct, banned from the industry for two years, and somehow he's walking around as a "project consultant"? And Meng Yanchen either missed it or let it slide? That's not a subplot—that's a landmine waiting to explode. I can already feel the fallout coming. And then—BAM—Meng Yanchen sees Fan Shengmei with a little girl calling her "Mommy" and Chen Jiakang holding her bag like a devoted partner, and his entire demeanor shifts. One second he's cold and calculating, the next he's canceling a top-three investment meeting on a whim. The jealousy is so blatant it's almost comedic. But here's what's bothering me: why does he keep pushing Fan Shengmei away while simultaneously being obsessed with her? The chameleon metaphor the chapter title uses is perfect—he changes his colors depending on who he's talking to, but I don't trust any of them. Also, Song Yan making porridge and getting absolutely nothing in return? The writer is setting up a domestic tragedy that's going to hit hard. I just know Xu Qin is going to come crawling back to him after everything falls apart with her brother.
so far its doing good...
Very interesting read. I’m really hooked on the book
have just started reading it and am already glued to it , loving it and waiting to read more of this book.
This is amazing! I most especially love the way the author writes.
35 chapters 8/3/23......
The tense from the beginning is cool. I really enjoyed the first chapter, can't wait to proceed.
I don’t like Arthur or Olivia they are in an open relationship and and both are players. They are trying to break Liam and Ella up. Hopefully Liam can see right through them both before Ella can believe they’re both of their lies. Go ask Arthur and Liam’s dad. He will tell you the truth.
Great book can’t wait for the update!
I loved it; it’s absolutely sweet. There was only one moment when a tear escaped my eye. I finished the novel entirely, and I believe they could extract even more depth from the plot, though that would require making significant exceptions to the world’s rules.
Don’t despair; the fanservice will come in due time.
As mentioned in another comment, the initial closeness between the two protagonists might seem unrealistically high, but from our perspective, it’s similar to how we would feel when playing an otome game. Without spoiling too much, there will be a scenario where you realize that if you hadn’t believed it was a game, the spark between them wouldn’t have existed. The rules of the world revolve around the protagonists’ story, and it’s incredibly sweet. It also provides some insight into the deeper histories of secondary characters and minor roles, though not extensively.
Ruge isn’t entirely a saint, but the plot and his decisions make him appear extremely forgiving. If you’re put off by flawless, overly saintly characters who can hurt others, this protagonist isn’t like that. As the plot progresses, you’ll see that he has his flaws and isn’t perfect.
Firstly, I would like to thank the translator for their time and hard work. Thanks to them, I had the opportunity to read this excellent novel. As for the review, if you are a reader who enjoys Xianxia romance, this is definitely a must-read! I have completed up to chapter 12 of the translation, and it has not disappointed. It provides the same satisfying, heart-warming, and heart-touching experience as the novels *The Mighty One Born of the Heavens*, *Eternal Love of Destiny*, *AOL*, and *The Journey of the Four*. One of the best Xianxia romances out there! ❤️❤️
The primary storyline progresses steadily, interspersed with occasional glimpses of everyday life. However, the romantic subplot is dreadfully slow; I'm accustomed to couples coming together somewhere around chapters 50 to 80, but this one didn't happen until chapter 160! Whoever tagged it as 'Yaoi,' their interactions feel more like a shonen ai dynamic. In fact, even stories labeled as 'shounen ai' tend to have more chemistry than what we see here.
