I need to address the dialogue in this chapter because honestly it's deceptively good. Let's start with Yun Yin's line: 'This dish must be eaten fresh—don't forget to tell Young Master Song.' That's it. That's the whole quote. But the way it's delivered — the dash, the sudden shift from instruction to personal note — it tells you everything about her voice. She's direct, she's precise, but there's warmth underneath the command. She's not just giving an order; she's making sure her message gets through. And the servant's response: 'I understand, thank you, Miss!' — that exclamation mark does so much work. It's eager, respectful, almost reverent. You can hear the tone. This isn't a bored employee going through the motions; this is someone who genuinely values what Yun Yin is doing for them. The narrative voice itself is worth discussing too. The author writes in a style that's descriptive without being overwrought, letting the details speak for themselves. 'Translucent, paper-thin pieces, arranging them like petals on a porcelain plate' — that's not dialogue, but it carries the same weight. The prose has a voice, and it's one that trusts the reader to see what's being described without needing constant commentary. The chapter doesn't have a single line of internal monologue, and yet we know exactly who Yun Yin is. That's skillful writing.
I am confused, chapter 14and 15 is after chapter 18. Chapter 19 it’s about MerryGold serving her daughter and 20 is about when Merry just given birth. VERY confused and lost.
