I need a moment. I literally need to step away from my screen. "Because I really like you. I don't want you to suffer after getting hurt." That's it. That's the sentence that destroyed me. Yuyi Yue says this while he's stitching her shoulder, in the most casual tone possible, and Fang Xun'gui's entire world collapses. The author writes: "The drum-like heartbeat mocked the killer who had finally betrayed himself, ridiculing him for being nothing more than an ordinary person whose mind was thrown into chaos by a single word of 'like' from the one he loved." I AM NOT OKAY. But here's what really got me—the contrast between how Yuyi Yue experiences love and how Fang Xun'gui does. She's genuine, direct, almost naive in her honesty. She doesn't understand why he's struggling with it. She says things like "if it's painful, then don't like me. That should be simple, right?" as if she's offering him an escape hatch, not realizing that the feeling itself isn't the problem—the impossibility of it is. And Fang Xun'gui? He's trying SO HARD to rationalize it away. He insists her 'like' must mean something different, that she can't possibly mean it the way he understands it. He's terrified. And she sees right through it—"And you like me too, although I don't know why you deliberately hide it in front of me, I can tell." The fact that she learned to read people's hearts specifically BECAUSE of her master's cruel methods makes this even more tragic. Her trauma gave her the ability to see his truth, and now she's using that gift to gently dismantle his defenses. Every word she says is both an act of love and a weapon he can't defend against. I'm literally shaking. This CP is everything.

For this who are barely reading this book yes it first started with cath and Shaun later on more characters arrive but later on the story continues for each person in the story like freya and Rodney story with Ryan and Sara then charity with Chester and Eliza it gets good it’s just a lot of reading
