She's ruthless to everyone else but somehow finds tenderness for this girl who's been under Wang Xiulan's thumb her whole life. The scene where she pulls out a White Rabbit Creamy Candy and ruffles Mingzhu's hair? I literally had to put the book down for a second. It's such a small gesture but it says everything. Then there's the whole dynamic with Jia Renyi, and honestly, I hate him with a fire. He's pretending to be the filial son to Shen Baoguo while secretly involved with a widow. He thinks he's manipulating everyone but he's the one being played. The moment where Wang Xiulan slaps him and he covers the marks near his collarbone? Guilty as charged, bro. But the most interesting relationship here is with Section Chief Wang Defa. An outsider who shows more kindness than her own family. When he offers her 30 yuan and genuinely worries about her future, it highlights how hollow the Shen family's version of "family" really is. Feng Wan's gratitude toward him feels earned because it's the first genuine care she's received since coming back. The sister bond is the emotional core of this whole story, and it's written with so much warmth.
I read close to 200 chapters.. it was a good concept. I felt pacing was bit off, power levels at times doesn't make sense, too many abilities and skills which are rarely used. Also story itself kinda gives dull vibes..it's difficult to connect or immerse urself. ex when reading a novel usually everything, world, characters etc comes together in ur mind vividly as story progress. Here though the world scale is huge, i found it hard to get into. There was lot of anticipation developed but it never really paid off so far. Generally in every novel at the end of every arc/build up there comes a moment where u feel good/satisfied but here it doesn't happen.. it leaves you feeling empty.
I am only three chapters into this book, and I can already sense the intense passion that the author has poured into creating this exceptional piece of art.
