Okay so I need to talk about Shen Shuli flipping that table because HOLY. Like, I have never wanted to hug a fictional character more in my entire life. The way Zheng Zezhi just kept going and going—disgusting, vile, absolutely vile—and Fu Cuishan just sat there like a statue? I was so mad I could've burned the Kindle. But then Shen Shuli just... calmly picks up the checkbook, writes 500,000 yuan, and SLAMS it on the table. "Think twice about whether your status even qualifies you to!" I literally gasped out loud. This woman is absolutely iconic. And Fu Yanci? The man shielded her from flying porcelain with his own body. A shard hit his wrist and he didn't even flinch. He just... protected her. My heart. Also the flashback section? Don't even get me started. The part where young Shen Shuli grabs a broom and chases off the bullies, declaring "From now on, Fu Yanci is under my protection!" I literally teared up. She was fifteen and already this fierce, protective force of nature. And he waited outside her gate every single day, rain or snow, never daring to knock because he was afraid of dirtying the gate. That level of devotion? That's not a romance, that's a religion. But then—AND THIS IS THE PART THAT KILLED ME—when they're back home and he's being all passionate and saying "I love you, no one could love you more than I do," and she's all flushed and saying "I feel the same" after FIVE YEARS of him pursuing her... and then the nausea hits. I was SHOOK. The timing is just... the absolute worst timing. He's pouring his heart out and she's about to puke. I love that the author didn't even let us have a clean romantic moment before dropping that bomb.
Enjoyed this book. Such a romantic and heartwarming book to read. Love how direct to the point the story is. Not too much drama. Thank you author!
