This was surprisingly good. Doesn't have any cultivation or what not, it's completely slice of life. But the characters are hilarious and I fucking love the MC. He's unique in a sea of psycho MCs.

Sheng Qianyu's dialogue is sharp and composed. She doesn't ramble. When she tells Chen Zhou off, it's efficient: "How can you gossip about a female comrade behind her back? If Xiao Yu heard this, wouldn't she take it to heart?" She's using social pressure and moral reasoning, not emotion. This is a girl who has learned to navigate high-society military compound politics since childhood, and it shows. Chen Zhou's voice is appropriately bratty and impulsive. "But I don't like her! She's chubby and looks silly..." This kid sounds exactly like a privileged teenager who's never had to think about anyone but himself. And the fact that Sheng Qianyu doesn't soften her response because he's her childhood friend—that's the author making a deliberate choice about her character. Sheng Jiandang is warm but careful. His offer of malted milk, his guilt when he almost slips up, his quick recovery—his dialogue reveals a person who is constantly monitoring himself to avoid hurting others. Even his internal sigh of relief when Sheng Qianyu says she doesn't mind them mentioning Xiao Yu shows how thoughtful he is. The narrative voice itself is also worth noting. It's close third person, mostly following Sheng Qianyu's perspective, but it occasionally dips into other characters' thoughts (like Zhao Daxiong's internal conflict). This gives us a fuller picture without breaking immersion. The tone is restrained but never cold—there's warmth underneath the prose, especially in the family scenes.
