Okay, let me just say this: the Chu Yi and Suian dynamic is EVERYTHING and I am here for it. The moment he says "I'll sleep here tonight!" and she BLUSHES? I literally screamed. But then the way she recovers SO fast — "Then this servant will fetch your bedding" — and Chu Yi feels oddly unsettled? That is such a delicious character beat. He's used to people either cowering or fawning, and Suian just... doesn't do either. She blushes, sure, but then she's back to business like nothing happened. It drives him crazy in the best way. And then there's the whole thing about Wang Ziyu's turnover rate of maids. Suian's internal monologue about not wanting to be a tiger? Chef's kiss. She's playing the long game — staying invisible, staying alive. Meanwhile Chu Yi is this temperamental young master who randomly eats servant food and then declares he's sleeping in her room, and yet he also made sure to bring Wang Ziyu here instead of Jinzhu Courtyard because he was thinking ahead about his mother's reaction. He's complicated, I love it. The Lin Songluan vs Ziyu moment was also peak character work. Suian introducing Lin Songluan to Ziyu first (instead of the other way around) — Lin Songluan's inner rage at being "demoted" to the second introduction while Ziyu smoothly deflects the bow? These two women are playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.
