Loved the story at first, because it was different to others but I think it really lost its way. A lot of useless information, a lot of errors, the timeline doesn’t make sense… Side character stories partially left with big question marks and bonus chapters are useless and don’t really give new info
Okay so this chapter starts with Song Dajiang's mom dropping some serious truth bombs and I was NOT ready. She basically tells him: right now you're single, no kids, if something happens to you we'll be sad for a bit but honestly we have many children and one more or one less doesn't make much difference. Then she pivots to the real point — when you marry and have kids, who takes care of them if you're gone? We're young now, we can help raise them. But when we get old or die, can Erhe and Sihai really be relied upon? Their own families will come first, and the sisters will marry out. It's cold, it's practical, and it WORKS. Song Dajiang immediately abandons any thought of coal mine work. That's some effective parenting right there. Then the plot shifts to the vegetable-selling scheme and I love how Shen Xiuzhen outsmarts everyone. She doesn't just go to the market — she goes DIRECTLY to the residential compound. Smart move because it's hot, people don't want to trek to the market, and she's basically providing door-to-door delivery without calling it that. And the sunflower seeds! That was such a clever side hustle. Quote the same prices as the market for vegetables but add a free bunch of cilantro and some homemade roasted seeds. Auntie Zhou literally becomes their walking advertisement after getting a taste of the seeds. Within twenty minutes they sell out everything. But then Wang Xiaoqin shows up and tries to grab a huge handful of free seeds and I just — she's the workshop director's wife, people usually ignore her, and she goes TOO FAR. Auntie Zhou calling her out publicly was so satisfying. 'Have you no shame?' YES. And Wang Xiaoqin throwing down ten cents for seeds worth maybe two cents and demanding change? The audacity. Shen Xiuzhen just picks up the money and gives her change. In her past life she endured way worse. This woman has been through hell and back and still keeps a smile on her face. That's not weakness, that's strategic patience.

Alle never disappoints! This story had me hook from the very beginning. Loved all the different pov's, including the bad guys' ones. I must say, this book left me wanting more! I am soooo looking forward to her next book!
