The stakes in this section just escalated massively and I need to process it. First, Ning Bei breaks through to Core Formation in his teens — the text explicitly says even some Elders are only at that level. That's not just a power-up, that's a paradigm shift in the hierarchy. Then Zhao Ming shows up with the image stone, and Ning Bei watches Qin Yu's most humiliating moment play out. The text says: "once this spread it would be enough to ruin him for life." That's not a threat, that's a statement of fact. But here's what really got me — Ning Bei doesn't even share the stone immediately. He laughs, puts it away carefully, and then the scene cuts to him receiving chief disciple rewards alongside Qin Jiujiu. He's winning on every front: power, reputation, resources. Meanwhile, Qin Yu is gambling everything on a soul remnant that clearly has its own agenda. The Heavenly Venerable says "once I aid you, even celestial maidens will favor you" — but we, the readers, know that sounds like a con artist's pitch. The training expedition is the next battleground. Qin Yu needs to leave the academy to find a primer, and he's manipulating Lin Yueyao to get permission. But Ning Bei is already leading the expedition. So Qin Yu wants to join the very person who holds his ruin in a stone. The tension is suffocating in the best way. Who will outmaneuver whom when they're forced into the same space?
