This book has a somewhat generic start, tbh. It is good, but nothing extraordinary.But the further you progress, it will start to shine. The details of the world, it’s background and the thought put in it are one of the kind.Don’t just skim through it, you’ll miss a lot (like the subtile forshadowing, That is very well executed And details that you need in the future. to name just two things)It is nowhere near perfect. But that is what makes it a masterpiece. The constant improvement of the already good, to now high Quality that doesn’t seem to stop is fascinating, To say the least.The Author Is another charm factor. It’s most likely the trashiest Chinese ”overpowered MC” trash novel that I have ever read in my life. Not worth it even as a time-killing exercise.
I've now red this book until chapter 44 and it has not betrayed my expactations from the last book. Very good work author!!
I read it some time ago and really liked it at first. The idea was good and the MC was somewhat relatable. Problem is... it really fast went over the top, using all sort of tropes and sacrificing any seeds for decent character development.I read it up to 80+ chapter and gave up however mind you, the novel is not bad. It is nothing mind blowing but few of the readers here actually seek anything deep and profound. It is entertaining enough and on par or better than the average novel on the site.
Okay, let me just—what did Xie Zhi actually think was going to happen here? Like, she faked drowning, swam across the lake, saw a figure she assumed was Pei Hong, and just went for it? Her plan was so audacious it's almost impressive. She was going to let the mother and son's scheme succeed, just swap the groom from Shuangfu to Pei Hong. Bold. Reckless. Honestly kind of brilliant in a desperate sort of way. But then—plot twist—the man who pulled her out wasn't Pei Hong at all. It was Pei Du. And not just that, he had intercepted her token the whole time. He knew. From the very beginning, he knew what she was planning. That scene where he shakes her bundle and gold and silver spill everywhere? Chef's kiss. The author really loves putting her in positions where she's one step away from freedom and then slams the door shut. And the escape attempt later that night? She's feverish, stumbling through the dark, and who does she run into? Pei Du AGAIN. Twice in one night. The universe is literally conspiring against her. I love how the plot keeps her schemes just barely alive—she's always one breath away from either succeeding or getting caught. That's what makes this so tense. Every decision she makes is a gamble, and the author keeps raising the stakes. The only thing I'm curious about is what Pei Du's endgame is. He's clearly been playing a longer game than she realizes. When he says "take her back first" after she breaks down and cries about losing her dignity—was that genuine concern or calculated manipulation? I can't tell, and that uncertainty is exactly what keeps me turning pages.
A good ending would be Pamela with a new man or single, a tragic ending would be her ending up with Louis still. Quite frankly he really grosses me out after sex with Miranda. Now I'm just going to want to puke when he touches Pamela. Miranda has more to tease her about now that she's been with him
