There's a reason this story keeps coming back to food and I think it's not accidental. Meat in this novel isn't just meat. It's power. It's autonomy. It's the difference between surviving and living. The Lin family can't afford meat — they're borrowing money for education and pretending to be scholars — while Lin Yu'er, the outcast, the one they called worthless, is stir-frying meat with white rice in her thatched cottage. The irony is almost comic, but it's also devastating. The candy she sells from the System is another layer. These aren't just products — they're her escape route, her way of building something that belongs to HER. The System complains about the cost but she keeps trading anyway. Every gold coin spent on candy is a gold coin earned on her own terms. And then there's the wound-cleaning scene where she tears her own clothing to treat him. Her clothes — her protection, her modesty, her dignity — become a bandage for the man who has become her family. That's not accidental symbolism. That's the author telling us exactly what this story is about: what are you willing to tear yourself apart to protect the people you love? The repeated image of the mountain — Yin Chiyan going into it alone, coming back bloody — represents the invisible labor of protection. He doesn't talk about it. He doesn't ask for credit. He just goes and comes back and lies in the yard with a wild ox and blood on his clothes, and the story treats it with the same weight as any grand romantic gesture. This is a story about what we sacrifice for love and what we refuse to sell.
The only ones who were saved apart from the perpetrators of the jutsu were Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakash who were protected by Sasuke's Susanoo and all the Edo Tensei who had fought at that time (not counting Yamato who was inside a Zetsu and possibly some blind man).
We were outnumbered, I didn't know if there was anything we could do to turn the tide. However, I was getting Aria home. I looked to her, she didn't have fear in her eyes, just sadness. "Aria, what's wrong?" She looked at me, a sad smile touched her lips. "We aren't going to get out of this are we?"
"Yeah..why are you asked me like that?" Li Shuxian look at her with odd face.
"Speaking of the devil, they are here to greet us themselves." The girl's expression turned serious.
Alex glared at Jace as well.
"I will come home soon," he said while holding both of my shoulders. I nod my head. He walked over to Yao Mama.
'Fire Devil...? My mom is?'
Without saying another word, Hobie jumped and appeared before the man in red in order to return all those punches he received earlier.
Overall im loving this novel, karma system isnt too difficult to figure out and cultivation levels etc are well explained. MC is developing pretty well so far will have to see how we go in the future.
"Time to flex your wings," Gideon whispered, more of requested, and this time, Riki did roll his eyes as the outer layer of his costume was undone, both Blondies assisting to pull over and off of his shoulders the heavy mantle.
