The dialogue in this section is genuinely one of its strongest features, and I want to talk about how distinct every voice is. First, there's the system, which has this perfect blend of exasperation and reluctant obligation. Host, shut up quickly. You can't tell anyone about my business alone, otherwise, none of your wishes will come true. That line does three things at once: it establishes the system's self-interest, it raises the stakes, and it sounds like an annoyed coworker who's stuck managing a chaotic employee. The crackling electromagnetic field when it feels guilty is such a funny visual detail that makes the system feel like a character rather than a plot device. Then there's Pear Blossom's voice, which shifts dramatically depending on who she's talking to. With her siblings, she's authoritative and practical—Don't shout and attract others. With Dong Yun, she's eager to please, almost performative in her politeness. But with the system, she's raw and confrontational: If you regret it, I won't bind with you! That's not the voice of a passive protagonist; that's someone who's learned to fight. Dong Yun's dialogue is sparse but loaded. She doesn't say much, but every line reveals character. You're too young to understand a woman's beauty—this memory she has, quoted almost verbatim, shows us a woman who was once watched and judged the way she now watches Pear Blossom. And her practical kindness—Bring the rabbits in—carries more weight than any grand gesture could. The villagers' dialogue at the end is rough and immediate, which contrasts nicely with the more introspective tone of the earlier scenes. Xiang Laoer's plan to tell everyone it's a joke reveals the desperate improvisation of people who have no real power. The dialogue throughout never feels written; it feels overheard.
There's something really beautiful about the scarf moment at the beginning. Xue Chen shoves his scarf at Xia Zhen while looking sulky, and she immediately puts it back on him saying she doesn't need it because 'my elegant neck shouldn't be hidden.' On the surface it's just sibling banter, but look closer. Xue Chen giving away his scarf is an act of care he can't verbalize. He's cold, he's upset, but he still notices SHE's cold and gives her something warm. And Xia Zhen refusing it—not because she doesn't want it, but because she won't let him sacrifice for her. It's this tiny dance of giving and refusing that mirrors their entire relationship. Then there's the music itself as symbol. Xia Zhen choosing those terrible pop songs—'Poisonous Perfume,' 'I'll Love Even in Death'—is almost like she's trying to drown out her own feelings with noise. The lyrics are all about obsessive, desperate love, and she's singing them while trying to push Pei Cheng'an away. The irony is almost painful. She's performing devotion to someone she doesn't love while the person who actually loves her watches from the sidelines. The KTV room itself is symbolic too—it's a space of performance, of hiding behind songs and laughter. Everyone is performing: Xia Zhen performing disinterest, Xue Chen performing indifference, Pei Cheng'an performing calm acceptance. The walls of a KTV room can't contain all these unspoken truths.

Interesting book written in first person POV. There's a good build up moment which indicates good story telling. The plot may look common at the start but it's got its own uniqueness as you continue to read. Few adjustments, grammar, punctuations and spelling. Fairly technical but can easily be fixed. Recommended to those who like cool and collected MC.
