Vienna!!! Girl!! you don't know what you have gotten yourself into!!!!!!!
Let me just say this upfront: the stakes in this section are deceptively low on the surface and ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL underneath. On the surface, it's a kids-conflict at a restaurant. A three-year-old gets pushed into a water tank. Someone needs to apologize. This is the kind of thing that happens at any family restaurant on any Tuesday. But the author layers so much beneath this that every line crackles with tension. Yu Yue's internal conflict is the most interesting one. She's trying to be the bigger person — she wants to resolve this quickly, she's not looking for a fight. But Fu Jingyan's behavior keeps provoking her. 'What, is your child a child, but others' children aren't?' This isn't just about an apology — it's about Yu Yue asserting that her temporary responsibility for Huanhuan matters, that she has authority, that she won't be dismissed. And Fu Jingyan? He's caught between two worlds. He wants to protect Su Qingyue and Tangtang, but he also can't ignore Yu Yue completely. The moment he says 'I am her temporary guardian now' and he FROWNS — that's the conflict. He's used to Yu Yue being sensible, being easy to manage. Her sudden assertiveness throws him off balance. But the REAL stakes are Fu Ruoxi's. She orchestrated this entire situation. 'I did it to spite Yu Yue. Who told her to embarrass me at the old house?' This is personal revenge, and the fact that she used a child as a weapon makes her genuinely dangerous. She's not just causing drama — she's engineering situations where Yu Yue looks bad, where conflicts escalate, where the truth gets muddied. The mute reveal raises the stakes even higher. If Tangtang CAN'T speak, then Fu Ruoxi's plan to use her as a pawn is even more sinister. But it also means the conflict resolves too quickly — no apology comes, no real confrontation happens. Fu Ruoxi gets exactly what she wanted: Yu Yue looks like she was being unreasonable, and nobody knows the whole truth. This is conflict done RIGHT. Every character wants something, they're willing to manipulate to get it, and the reader is left wondering: what happens next when the full truth comes out?
great start to a fantastic story, but it's not worth reading if there are no consistent updates. Jan 14,2024.
