The motif of mouths and speech runs through this entire chapter like a thread, and it's not accidental. Liu Fangmei's mouth becomes the central symbol — it's the one thing she can't control, the one part of her that refuses to participate in the family's lies. While her mind tries to protect secrets, her mouth betrays everything. There's something almost poetic about this: the truth has a physical force that cannot be suppressed forever. But the chapter also explores the opposite — the mouths that speak carefully calculated lies. Jiang Yucheng's smooth persuasion attempt, "for the sake of our father-daughter relationship all these years" — that's a mouth working overtime to conceal cruelty behind warmth. And then there's Zhang Qiuyan, whose mouth literally won't open when she tries to mention Jiang Muyan. Her silence isn't deception; it's reverence. She's encountered something extraordinary and her body recognizes it before her mind does. The baby-swap itself is the ultimate symbol of the chapter's core theme: identity is not blood, it's not money, and it's certainly not what some greedy woman decided at a hospital bed over a decade ago. Jiang Muyan's choice to say "I'm choosing not to return to my biological parents, not that I can't" is a reclaiming of agency. She's defining herself on her own terms, not theirs. The ration coupons and thousand yuan are symbols too — not just of wealth, but of the family's misplaced priorities. They'd rather give up their savings than face shame. Money was always their god.
Okay can we just talk about Zhang Beilu hiding behind Fu Zheng? I literally paused the book because my heart did that thing. She's terrified, running from some drunk guy, and she just... bumps into him. And he smells like wood. That detail—"a faint scent of wood"—it's so small but it makes the whole scene feel intimate instead of just dramatic. And then she says she'll repay him, all earnest and grateful, and he just looks at her and says no need before walking away. The narrator even tells us he's thinking about another girl. Oof. That's the kind of quiet heartbreak that sneaks up on you. But here's what really got me: Zhang Beilu's whole vibe after this. She's blushing, thinking about when they'll meet again, and then she treats Xu Yueyao to strawberry cake like nothing happened. The way she's trying to act casual but you can tell she's completely smitten—it's so real. And then there's An Zhiyi, sitting in the classroom like nothing's happening, but earlier we learned she's been rationalizing her way out of loving Fu Zheng because the gap between them is too vast. She "hated her own excessive rationality" but couldn't help it. That line about being afraid of "falling into an abyss from which there was no return"—that's not just about romance, is it? That's about someone who's been hurt before and built walls so high she can't even see over them anymore. Meanwhile Xu Yueyao is playing this whole "I'm Zhan Rong Xuan's girlfriend" game like a chess master. Is there actual chemistry between her and Zhan Rong Xuan or is it all just a deal? The book hasn't shown us their real interactions yet, which is both frustrating and fascinating. I keep wondering what happens when the act falls away and they're just... two people who have to figure out if there's something real underneath all that strategy.
op story and btw if you all wanna read some more good book you can read "meteosity"
Totally good action! Can’t wait for more!
absolutely mind-blowing and captivating novel, Author?
I love how the story starts. ? It is well-written and the words are carefully chosen. This kind of story is similar to some movies like for an example, you need to watch the movie again to be able to understand it. ? In short, this story is deep but well detailed and I love it. ❤️ Characters are well-written too. Good job on this, author!
So Far, so good! Love Audi's work, and can't wait to see this next OP character and how his world expands and builds!
I'll stick with the Spanish version, I feel that it is more understandable, poor gringos are going to have a horrible time without the official translation into English, although I understand most of the novel, I am a professional in these matters.
cant help it but enjoy your work keep up the good work it's really appreciated
The story is very intriguing, with all sorts of elements interweaved into it. It leans more on the dark side and has room for even more development, but it's a good read, which is full of thrill, mystery and more. Great story, keep writing!?
