The novel initially received mixed feedback (2.5/5) with my expectations being conflicted. Despite my desire to appreciate it, the inconsistent character development is challenging to overlook. I'm continuing to read, but it's safe to say the story only deteriorates as one delves deeper. So far, I'm quite disappointed.
Despite the rocky beginning, I must mention my admiration for Jee Gab Song. His growth from "Monster" onwards is evident, and I genuinely enjoy the novel thus far. In brief, the protagonist, after dying and returning from the future with an enhanced 'Notepad' powered by Libra's Peronium, chooses to pursue a different path in life by attending college. The narrative revolves around his struggles in a competitive and hostile environment, dealing with classism and enmity from key characters.
The story gains traction around chapter 40, but the weak start is a drawback. The awkward conversation between the main character and his killer, as well as the underwhelming introduction of supporting characters like Elise, are apparent issues. Initially, her character was described vaguely by another character, leaving readers uncertain about her feelings towards the protagonist. Early interactions between them leave her feeling detached and underdeveloped, with limited dialogue in the first few chapters.
Fortunately, as the story progresses, these issues begin to improve. Song's typical pattern of a slow start is compensated for by a more fleshed-out plot later on.
As I continued reading to gain a clearer understanding, I must say that the content is commendable but the narrative structure could be improved. Personally, I believe the story would have resonated more if it focused on a personal vendetta rather than an apocalyptic theme. The initial chapters up until 1-38 revolve around the protagonist's resentment towards the irrationality that led to their mother's death, which feels out of place given the grand scope.
The prologue's disconnect stems from its attempt to justify the character's actions through a sense of fairness, rather than a desire for pure evil. It would have been more compelling if the story portrayed an innocent individual seeking justice for their unfortunate circumstances, rather than a world-ending force.
I yearn for novels with a more nuanced morality, where characters' actions aren't driven solely by malevolence. It's a tale of an innocent girl who, through a tragic turn of events, seeks retribution against those responsible for her downfall, making for a more relatable and engaging narrative.
Typically, I strive to complete a book until its conclusion, but with this one, I struggle to keep going. The concept is intriguing, but the lack of conflict or a clear, compelling goal prevents me from getting fully immersed. There's action, yes, as the main character (MC) and love interests (MLs) take action, but it feels aimless.
The structure and world-building could use improvement. The author effectively introduces the setting and characters, but there aren't enough vivid descriptions to give me a sense of the story's progression. Scene transitions are sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow along. The focus seems to be more on developing the lore rather than the immediate events.
What I do enjoy are the interactions between the MC and the MLs – their absurd situations and the MC's exasperation provide some comic relief. However, this isn't enough to compensate for the lack of plot momentum, especially when attempting to establish potential relationships. It feels forced and disconnected.
Despite these issues, I might consider giving this book another chance. After all, I find the concept appealing, and I'm hoping that future chapters might address these shortcomings.

Why kill the innocent though ?
I picked up this novel because in the first chapter it says that the translator is Atlas Studios. Novels picked up by Atlas Studios were usually very good novels. This novel is indeed very good, the story is truly engaging. However, a quater into the novel the translation quality seemed to have dropped. The grammar, the pronouns became haywire. I continued reading regardless because the story of each couple is so interesting. A satisfied reading, but I do not recommend to those who are OCD with grammartical errors.
