Their relationship is deep-rooted in trust and mutual respect, rather than constant displays of affection, as they lead independent and busy lives. This isn't the read for those seeking an overly clingy or saccharine romance.
There are a few instances of physical intimacy, like kisses and a possible assumption of a long-term partnership based on danmei logic, which suggests MC might be the protagonist with a supporting role. The narrative shifts more towards technical aspects of mechanical engineering and political intrigue, making it a work-focused tale. Both MC and ML are dedicated to their careers, leaving readers occasionally feeling the fatigue of their relentless dedication.
The author seemed to have intended to develop multiple subplots, such as a talented pharmacist who could have been a secondary love interest, the nephew ML takes under his wing, and the potential for a dual protagonist setup, but these elements were left undeveloped.
Despite some abandoned plotlines, the story remains decently engaging if you're willing to invest time and aren't looking for a fluffy romance.
