The pacing in these chapters is doing some serious work and I want to applaud it. You've got the action sequence with Xie Sui fighting the painting spirit, then this incredibly intimate and creepy moment with Lu Ying's realm spirit wrapping around Lian Yin, and then — BAM — you're in a misty forest following an illusion of young Lu Ying. The transition from the painting room to the hidden passage to the forest feels like descending deeper into something, and the pacing mirrors that descent. It starts fast and violent, slows to a crawl in the fog, then builds again with the forest scene. But what really works is how the author uses the Shen Qingle ending as a complete tonal shift. After all that darkness with Lu Ying's spirit and the traumatic flashback, we get this seemingly normal interaction with a new character. It's disarming. It makes you lean in. The chapter doesn't end on a scream — it ends on a question, and that's so much more effective.

Only 86 chapters, but they’re super long! And the story is written refreshingly unique! I laughed, cried, cussed, and was anxious… a definite page turner!

This novel is truly delightful. It's an excellent choice for those who enjoy a gentle, real-life story. The two main characters are charmingly portrayed and their developing relationship is heartwarming. The supporting cast adds depth with their distinct personalities, and the author does an exceptional job capturing the essence of high school adolescence.
However, I personally would have appreciated more intimate moments between the protagonists, particularly once they confess their love. I feel that the post-romance section could benefit from a bit more depth and perhaps a few more explicit scenes (although censorship might play a role).
Overall, it's a delightful read that leaves one feeling uplifted and content. The connection between Chi Tang and You Yu is truly blossoming, and it's a joy to follow their journey.

People don't complain that much about it. I personally don't like the change in translators, even if the quality improves it throws me off.
