I love that de fei is a reformed player killer that show a greater thought about the character. He seem a more well rounded character in some interestingly tough situations.
I really tried to get into this story. But it is so odd. Suppose to be a game world but it feels more like forced government recuirtment experimentation with possibly population control. The A.I. forces the MC into a female body with a female name even tho its suppose to be illegal for gender-bending by government law. The MC says he wants to be masculine but makes no effort to do so. Suppose to be a mech novel but all ive seen so far is mutation and really stupid plot armor.
I originally read the manga on a Manga reader app and its a really good story. Shreks Seven Devils are smart in their battles it’s awesome.
Okay, so this book doesn’t have an original premise at all. BUT it is very, very well written using that premise. Also his to-be gf and him are so cute, I just love this book
[As of Chapter 213]- World Background -Expect a lot of geography, locations, factions, and history. The author has made a particularly vast world which you can feel from the descriptions, and interesting phenomena sculpt the various locations.- Story Development - Sometimes slow, sometimes fast, the author has a balance. There is a system to the development of the MC that makes sense. Sometimes it is luck and fortune that helps the MC, sometimes he advances through bloodshed and great battles by experimentation. The wars involving countless cultivators could be written better.- Character Design - The author has variety in character writing. The problem is that there are too many characters being constantly introduced and forgotten. The character flow cuts the potential of some characters short, such that the reader is only stuck with the MC when it comes to attachment or eagerness to see certain character interactions potentially happen and develop.-!!! Translation Quality !!!- Readers beware: Write a glossary (names list) as you read the novel. The weakness of this novel. I gave it 3 stars only because the English is good and understandable, ignoring a few spelling and grammar mistakes that happen rarely enough.I don't know the accuracy of Chinese-->English as i'm not a Chinese speaker, so i can't state anything here. The big problems are naming standardization and a lack of an official glossary for the readers. The longer a novel updates without the editing staff having a joint glossary, the more time will be wasted on fixing a novel, just like a long-term disease, the more unwilling the staff will become to fix the novel. The character names, location names, and other names, are all over the place, as in, some names have multiple variations with the translation constantly shifting between them, not being able to settle for a single name for good for the same thing. The readers are then thrown into confusion, or unable to google search certain names when they need to recollect who or what they are (because the name is differently written in that earlier chapter).Big problem for readers who follow and read more than 30-40 novels. The Translators are off the hook, because this is solely on the Editors to do.Some of the examples are (and this is a tiny list because i don't want to do the work of the editors for them):- White Mystery Nation/White Wonder Nation- Wild Goose Falling River/Falling Crane River- Natural Moat Gorge/River Sky Canyon- Sky Serpent Nation/Sky Snake Nation- Heavenly Wind Country/Windy Nation- Sea of Soul Realm/Spirit Ocean Realm- Yuan Hengkong/Yuanheng Kong- Yin Wuqing/Leng Wuqing - Qiu Ruodan (Color Sword)/Qiu Ruotong- Song Qingyun/Shen Lang (Blue Clouds)- Fei Wushuang/Zhuang Fei (Emerald Childe)- Liu Wuxiang/Liu Waxiang/Liu Xuxiang (Palm Termination)/(Broke Palm)Each line above is one character or location or faction or other, with different names. You can imagine what kinds of problems this brings to the readers, or can bring to them. All in all, the novel needs some serious re-editing for translation quality to go anywhere beyond 3 deserved stars.
Indian mythology; consider me in. Even I would like to know how Vishnu ends up being the God of ailmentation. One of the most worshiped and revered god.
Typical story that follows alot of tropes on chinese novels. The start was ok until the the end which was so confusing "the dragon empress kisses him passionately" wut thats his mom and why would the phoenix emperor be angry was the mc's mom his daughter? What about the mc's fiancee/wife(dunno), which was stated as the phoenix emperor's daughter is she the mc's aunt? I think its just a typo the one who reincarnated with him was his wife. Just the 1st chapter and already so confusing.
'Using the excuse that Chuxiu Palace was connected to Yilian Lake, where the lotuses were beautiful and the garden was in full bloom with butterflies fluttering about, the First Princess pretended she wanted to play.' Let me just stop here and appreciate the visual contrast. On one hand, you have this idyllic scene—lotuses, butterflies, a six-year-old girl playing in a beautiful garden. And on the other hand, someone is about to die in that water. The author sets up this almost fairy-tale atmosphere right before the murder happens, and that juxtaposition is devastating. The selection scene in Chuxiu Palace is also incredibly vivid. You can picture it: the dimming sky at dusk, the main hall with the two Empresses Dowager on either side of the Emperor like opposing forces, the candidates waiting outside like sheep waiting to be sorted. The Emperor's 'moody gaze' sweeping across the hall, his two-second silence before offering a perfunctory greeting to the mother he clearly resents. Every detail places you right there. And then the lake accident. 'There was a plop.' Just a plop. That onomatopoeia is so casually brutal. A child falls into water and the sound is just... plop. Not a splash, not a scream, just a plop. And then silence. The text says 'She sank into the water without even being able to cry out for help.' That silence is louder than any description could be. The aftermath is equally well-rendered. The wet nurse Madam Fang 'immediately rushed over to scoop up the princess and run off.' The palace maids 'anxiously and chaotically swarmed around the unconscious princess.' And Fu Lingxi—the girl who actually saved the princess—is left struggling in the lake, unnoticed, while everyone focuses on the royal child. The visual of her being struck by a bamboo pole from behind, pushed deeper into the water while her saviors are busy elsewhere, is horrifying in its simplicity. When Fu Lingxi wakes up, the text describes the room brightening with 'ample light' as the palace maids enter. That transition from darkness (the lake, unconsciousness, death) to light (waking up, surviving, a new beginning) is such a powerful visual metaphor. The author clearly understands how to use setting to mirror emotional states. I also love the detail about the Emperor having 'sharp ears and eyes'—he heard the commotion from inside the main hall and used his 'movement techniques' to rush over. This isn't just a political ruler; he's a martial artist. A general by origin, the 'God of War.' That changes everything about how I picture this world. The palace isn't just a place of whispers and schemes—it's a place where someone could literally move faster than sight.
