i can understand if it's worldbuilding or such, but a novel is only good if it's balanced through the entire novel

I’d argue it’d also be the same for men. Most people in the modern day and age will just not be able to instantly adapt to extreme conditions. Just having alittle more testosterone doesn’t mean jack.
Exactly, I was looking for a theme in the wrong story.
But I'll keep reading since it's still not bad.
Points 1,3, and 4 make sense, but is it really an issue that the system isn't explained? I'm kind of tired of authors trying to explain the systems rather than leaving them as the inciting incident and proceeding with the story.
