Okay so let's talk about Hua Zhiyun because this woman is absolutely unhinged and I am HERE for it. First, the cucumber scene. Chu Linzhang just swallowed some mysterious crystal to save his life, he's crippled, exiled, starving, and what does she give him? The tiny bland butt end of a cucumber. The part nobody would miss. And she admires his flexibility while doing it. This woman is calculating every interaction. She's not even being openly cruel—she's being casually dismissive, like he's a pet she's tolerating. And the fact that he just accepts it? "Chu Linzhang: '...'" I literally laughed out loud. But then you have the snake scene and suddenly the mask slips a bit. She plays with a venomous snake like it's a scarf. Lets a child die from a bite because the kid reached for her food. And when Li Shi begs? She drapes the snake around the woman's neck, lets it crawl down her face, and watches her faint. This isn't just ruthless—this is someone who has absolutely no patience for other people's suffering unless it serves her. She even internally justifies Chu Huaizhu's death: "A thankless little wolf. Better to die young and reincarnate early." She's already written off a TEN-YEAR-OLD as beyond redemption. And yet—she KICKS the poison bottle out of Chu Lin'an's hand. She saves Chu Linzhang's life. She produces a live mouse from her sleeve like it's nothing. She's protecting the man she supposedly married for convenience. So what is this relationship? She calls him "Lady Hua" and threatens to twist his neck if he calls her that again. But she also saves his life and asks him to repay her in gold, not in loyalty. She's building something transactional, but the transactions keep turning into something else. When he asks her to leave with him and she refuses because her space would be erased—she's choosing to stay trapped alongside him. That's not nothing. The dynamic is so deliciously twisted. He's the broken God of War who can't even turn over in bed. She's the princess who grooms venomous snakes for fun. Neither of them is whole, and neither of them trusts anyone else. But they keep choosing each other in the smallest, most reluctant ways. I need to know what happens when he figure out about her space ability. Because that changes EVERYTHING.
This novel don't get enough credit in this site , it have a lot of fun and interesting side characters , the world building is one of the best out there and the best apocalypse novel world building , the power system is very diverse because their is a lot of races so it make sense that their is different power system for different races , there is alot of schemes and plot twists that will make you very engaged in reading , their is time travel here so it get confusing for some people but i read the rest of the novel mtl so alot of things will make sense in the final chapters , and finally the mc is really great and work so hard that while reading you will wish for him to get rest and he is very smart and a competent person that really know how to solve problems and handle many situations in great way , so i am very confused why this is not at least in the top 100 because it deserve top 10 with ease , unique perspective on apocalypse and well fleshed out novel so give it a try .
