Excellent book and sequel. I want more. Maybe a spin-off. Like Galan and his mate.
I need to just sit with the emotional weight of this chapter for a second. Gu Nanci comes back from that devastating confrontation with Xi Ruqian — who basically threatens her career, mentions this performance-based contract with less than a year left, and walks away looking at her like she's contaminated — and what does she do? She goes to PRACTICE. She doesn't collapse. She doesn't spiral. She shows up early, gets handed lyrics by Cheng Yang, and just starts working. But the moment that really got me is Wen Jiuyi. This guy follows Cheng Yang around like a lost puppy, completely unaware that he's playing out an entire tragic drama in his head about Gu Nanci's injuries. "Man, Cheng Yang is so annoying, constantly nagging and asking about your whereabouts. If you don't recover soon, I really won't be able to keep covering for you…" Meanwhile he's the one doing all the covering! And he genuinely believes whatever she tells him. He's so pure it hurts. Then Cheng Yang's whole breakdown at the door — the way he describes meeting Gu Nanci as "his doom" and says "All gifts from fate come with a price already marked in secret" — it's funny but there's real tenderness underneath. He's been so frustrated with her that he's convinced she's useless, but he never actually abandons her. And when she surprises him by saying she CAN do the dance and wants to rearrange the song? The text says his pupils contracted and his mind went blank. That's not just surprise — that's someone whose expectations have been completely shattered in the best way. The trio name brainstorm is also just the sweetest thing. Wen Jiuyi trying so hard, Cheng Yang staring at the ceiling doing absolutely nothing, and Gu Nanci enthusiastically agreeing to "Yang Yici" just to end the suffering. I'm obsessed with these three.
I absolutely adore stories with child protagonists, and this one is exceptional. Hanelope is a delightful and amusing character. What I appreciate about her is that she's intelligent but not overly powerful - her strength comes with real-life challenges. In these types of narratives, it's common for family bonds to shine, but the author skillfully portrays Hanelope's journey to gain the respect of her father and grandfather. I particularly enjoy watching how the main character (FL) manipulates the villains and overcomes obstacles alongside her dad, as they both face personal growth.
Hart is a standout father figure; he wasn't ignoring or disliking Hanelope, merely unaware due to a misunderstanding. Upon meeting her, his initial thought was that she might be his own daughter. The heartwarming moments between them are truly delightful.
Read till 386 the book over all good but the MC look like pushover and it get repetitive and some times the mc look stupid with the way he act
The novel has a lot potential but the author go downhill route I can't take it anymore
Nothing on this site is a masterpiece lol its all generic cr*p you read when you have nothing better to do. Genuinely everything gets repetitive and stale at some point if it doesn't begin that way. Boring writing, annoying tropes. Its all cr*p.
I don't know why they don't tag this novel with the label of arrogant characters. It deserves it with honors...
