i think i should read this one amazing story!
The dialogue in this novel is deceptively simple but every line is doing heavy lifting. Let me start with Jiang Liuyan because her voice is absolutely chilling. When she says "Ungrateful wretch?" and then launches into her manifesto about being bullied in the Guogong Mansion, the author gives her a genuine grievance. She wasn't always evil—she was oppressed, she climbed, and she justified it by saying "Every man for himself, and the devil take the hindmost." That line is so perfectly villainous because it's not even malicious in her own mind. She genuinely believes she earned her position and Pei Yunshu earned her suffering through arrogance. The dialogue makes her sympathetic and that's what makes her dangerous. Pei Yunshu's dialogue is equally revealing. In Chapter 1, she barely speaks—"Nanny, please open the window," "Nanny, did it snow?"—her voice is weakened, physical. But when she says "My mother... what did you do to my mother?" that's the moment her voice cracks with genuine hysteria. The author uses dialogue to show her physical deterioration and emotional state simultaneously. In Chapter 2, the dialogue between Pei Yunshu and Yuehua is where the narrative voice really shines. Yuehua's warning about Jiang Liuyan having "ulterior motives" and the story about the woman who became a concubine five years ago—this is exposition delivered through natural conversation. Yuehua's voice is practical, observant, loyal. She doesn't say "I don't trust this woman" directly; she tells a story and lets Pei Yunshu draw the conclusion. That's how smart servants talk to their mistresses. And then the Emperor's dialogue in Chapter 3: "What's wrong? Did someone bully you?" Four words that carry eight years of history. He doesn't ask "Why are you crying?" or "What happened?" He assumes someone hurt her and offers protection. His voice is gentle, immediate, protective. And Pei Yunshu's response—running into his arms without a single word—is more powerful than any dialogue could be. The author understands that sometimes the most emotional moments are the ones where characters don't speak at all.

I'm only halfway through and you know I adore your other stories. I'll be honest I'm not a fan of the werewolf genre...but OMG this is amazing? It's so different from any other werewolf novel I've read! It's funny and high fantasy I worship Zelda! Hunter is wild I just love all of this!! Brilliant!
