I have to talk about the dialogue in this section because honestly, it's one of the things that elevated this from 'good web novel' to 'I want to quote these lines forever.' Lin Wanwan's courtroom statement is the standout, obviously. 'I don't know who reported him. But I know... Justice may be delayed, but it will not be absent. Though the delay is truly disgusting.' This is the kind of line that becomes a meme and a manifesto simultaneously. It's sharp, it's witty, it's legally precise and emotionally raw all at once. And the fact that she delivers it without any performative sadness or fake humility—that's what makes it land. She's not trying to be inspiring. She's just being honest. Then there's Li Jianguo in the interrogation room. 'Who reported me?' The way the official just says 'That, I cannot say' and Li Jianguo's subsequent laugh—'Good, good, good. You think this can finish me?' This dialogue is sparse but devastating. You can hear the man's entire worldview cracking in those three words. And the netizens! The online comments are basically a Greek chorus, and they're HILARIOUS. 'Lived for thirty years, this is the first time I've seen so many official media outlets speaking about the same thing.' This is the author using internet culture as a narrative device, and it works because the voices feel authentic, not like an adult pretending to be online. Zhou Mingyuan's single line—'Source unclear? Then let the Jiangcheng Tax Bureau explain to you whether it's clear or not.'—is the kind of dialogue that makes you want to frame it. Cold, precise, absolutely no nonsense.
This narrative perplexes me because it intentionally features several characters who are deliberately portrayed as irritating. The main character (MC) and other seemingly well-intentioned characters also find them bothersome, with their annoyance being explicitly highlighted. There's no doubt that the author is not accidentally creating these frustrating characters.
However, these annoying characters persistently populate the story without any significant negative consequences. Despite not having done anything particularly heinous lately, they continue to plague the MC. As a result, readers are left without the gratification of witnessing their comeuppance; instead, they endure a relentless barrage of pestering. Consequently, the reading experience becomes predictably exasperating.
But your a mortal. How dare a mere mortal dare talk back to me? Courting death
Hopefully the latest chapters will he uploaded ?
Writing a novel huh maybe I'll try that but it'll be quite a while before even the first chapter is released cause I'll probably re-write each chapter 100 times...
I read a lot of novels, and most of them are good but this one certainly enters in the best category, it is definitely in the top 5 of a very very long list.
go read Dual Cultivation, I think you might like it.
Although I agree that the current editors aren’t comparable to Fuyuki,( example:Varay’s new design) let’s wait for the upcoming fights for the final judgment.
