love love love this book
Okay so let me just... take a breath. The moment Sang Wanwan catches that barbed whip with her bare hand is THE moment of this entire batch. Like, the author just drops this bomb on us and expects us to not lose our minds? She's in IRON SHACKLES, surrounded by guards, and she catches a weapon meant to shred faces. With her HAND. No flinch. No panic. Just this calm 'you're courting death' energy while the entire convoy loses their collective minds. And the setup for this was so good. Zhao Tieniu had been building up this threat throughout the chapter — the salt-water whip, the five hundred taels bribe, the shameless leering. The author made us feel genuinely worried for her. Then Zongzheng Zhan was about to throw himself in front of the blow, all that killing intent flashing in his eyes, and I was like OH NO DON'T DO IT and then SHE MOVES FASTER. The timing was chef's kiss. But what really made this scene work was the escalation. She doesn't just defend herself — she yanks the whip backward and sends a two-hundred-pound man flying. Then when he pulls a SABER on her, she deploys the itch powder. The plot didn't just resolve the conflict, it turned it into a public spectacle. Zhao Tieniu rolling around half-naked screaming about ants in his bones? That's not just a plot resolution, that's poetic justice served with a side of horror. And the Dowager Consort Shen reaction? Classic. The woman went from hysterical screaming to demanding water and food in literally three seconds. These people are so delulu I can't even. The plot is clearly setting up Sang Wanwan as someone who's about to flip this entire exile convoy upside down, and I am HERE for it.
Okay can we just talk about the absolute DISASTER that is Yu Xiao's emotional state in this chapter? I am not okay. I am genuinely not okay. The man is so transparently in love it hurts, and Chu Xuyun is so obliviously sweet about it that I wanted to shake both of them and also simultaneously ship them so hard my screen cracked. Let me start with the wedding attire scene because THIS is where everything fell apart for me. Chu Xuyun is sitting there, completely unfazed, drawing what he thinks is a dragon on the chessboard. He's been working on this design for HALF A DAY. Half a day! And Yu Xiao walks in and immediately assumes—ASSUMES—that the dragon is for some Demon Clan beast. Not for him. Not for their wedding. For ANOTHER creature. And then Chu Xuyun's reaction? He just... wipes it off and writes CRANE. Because apparently that's what Li Yanhe's associated with now. Yu Xiao's face. The way he says "Even if I resent Li Yanhe, I won't kill him before our wedding" like he's trying to convince himself. The man is falling apart and he doesn't even realize it. But here's what got me—the kiss. Yu Xiao grabs Chu Xuyun's face and kisses him like he's trying to prove something, and Chu Xuyun's entire internal monologue is just "Unfair, Heavens above" while his heart is doing Olympic-level gymnastics. He WANTED to kiss Yu Xiao. He was literally about to touch Yu Xiao's face and then some demon envoy showed up at the worst possible moment. The universe has a cruel sense of humor. And Yu Xiao leaving with that small bottle in his hand? What bottle? WHAT IS IN THE BOTTLE? I need to know. I need this resolved. The tension between these two is so thick you could cut it with a sword, and yet they're both so emotionally stunted it's painful.
Liked it hehe~ short but great read!
I enjoyed the concept and it was sweet seeing the main character showered with love~
All the couples are so precious; this is a first for me haha, usually, I can't stand side couples ~\\ (≧▽≦) /~
And yeah, the forum was also great haha, sometimes it was a bit long, but it included details that weren't explicitly explained in the narration~
A few thoughts:
- Spoiler:
- The Dragon Emperor had many human lovers, some of whom betrayed him, but he still cherished them deeply... that little extra about him... (˃̣̣̥o˂̣̣̥) how he loved each of them deeply as if each was his first love... knowing that the lifespan of humans is shorter than dragons, that just broke my heart ah... I deeply wished to see him one day have a dragon lover... and! He really does by the end haha, great to see him finally happy o (≧v≦) o
- Honestly, I would have liked more about the main character and the male lead by the end or in the extras, but I guess it's understandable if they focused on the dragons~ since they live longer haha
- The deaths of Henry and Robert... honestly, they were so anticlimactic, not in a negative way, just very surprising! It felt like, that’s a good way to end them, especially Robert. He seemed so special, so important, but by the end, the male lead just took his sword and cut his head off (⊙v⊙) not like some other villains whose deaths need half a chapter to describe haha he doesn’t deserve that ~\\ (≧▽≦) /~
Definitely worth your time~ do give it a try~ the main character and the male lead are great haha, I wish there were more sweet moments!!
Enjoy it~
I've only begun reading, but it's been quite enjoyable thus far. The tone appears lighter compared to similar narratives. If you're seeking a fun, lighthearted read, I would definitely recommend this one. Although the main character initially faces rejection from his family due to his supposedly "useless" magical ability, he maintains a decent bond with his eldest brother. However, relations with his younger brothers and father seem strained.
The story so far leans towards typical kingdom-building and underdog主角情节, which might be familiar territory for some readers. While this repetition might not appeal to those who prefer fresh takes on clichés, it doesn't necessarily make the story bad. Just be mindful if you prefer a more original plot structure.
This is hands down the best series I've come across, and I've read quite a lot. The characters are exceptional (powerful, which is fitting for a novel), and the interactions between the main couple are just perfect – I adore them! By the way, the ancient time tale involving a cat and mouse is also fantastic, though it's a shame that it hasn't been translated yet. The language can be challenging at times (MLT stands for Multiple Language Translation), but it's definitely worth giving it a try.
I'm going to start reading this here, I hope I'm mentally prepared
No, dude just has built in rizz with his cultivation. No slave systems or anything like that
Oh my , y'all should really read this , I especially like how the FL grandfather Huo Xiao always say that he's going to beat Huo Ci to death . This is so fucking humurous. The FL's father Huo Ci always drag the FL back home whenever he got the news that he's with Jun Shiyan... HAHAHA oh god poor couple their plans are always spouled by her father.
