I am loving this book, I can read it again and again... the plot is simply amazing .........
This story is such a well written rollercoaster ride! One minute i'm laughing, then i'm angry, then scared, then on the edge of my seat, then sad! I never know what's around the corner. I love it!

I need to talk about the wooden house scene because it's one of those moments where the setting just speaks for itself without any fancy description. So Xie Fangzhu built this tiny two-room wooden house on a hillside behind the mining district residential compound because the original owner didn't have Mining District Household Registration. He built one room first, the original owner threw a fit because she wanted a brick house, so he built an extra small room. And then she kicked him into the small room and took the big one for herself. Now Shen Yingying is standing in that small room—the one where the actual husband sleeps. The detail about the mosquito net is such a small thing but it immediately paints the picture. This is a poor mining district couple living in a self-built wooden shack, and yet Xie Fangzhu went out and bought food from the canteen for her without even being asked. The contrast between the shabby setting and the tenderness of the moment is kind of beautiful. There's also the detail about the checkered bedsheet with that red stain on it—such a visceral, specific image that grounds the whole scene in physical reality. And the cotton binding cloth that Shen Yingying struggles to put on, how it flattens her curves and is extremely uncomfortable. These tiny environmental details make the world feel lived-in. You can practically smell the coal dust and feel the cramped wooden walls. The author doesn't over-describe anything but every small detail serves double duty—building the world while also revealing character. That's good writing right there.
This is on the re-read list as well. Very good from beginning to the end.

I have to say this has been my favorite novel that you have written! I love all your books but this one just really moved me. It was quite the roller coaster ride! Heartbreaking, heartwarming & filled with amazing characters who truly know what family & friendship means. Loved it! More please!!& thx
I've read the first story about Alpha James and Zoe and that was so good! Zoe is such a strong and fierce FL and Alpha James so arrogant and mean. I felt how he hurt her but they both can't deny the attraction. Currently reading the 2nd part of the book with different ML and FL ( no spoilers wink)
