If only I could become an agent like Violet. *sigh*
The story has a very great plot and this is sooo NOT cliché like any other romance stories I have ever read before. ?
Giving it a 5 out of 5!
Okay so I have to talk about this one moment where the narrator just lays out the entire house layout like a floor plan. You know how some books just glide past descriptions and move on? This one stops dead and goes: here's who sleeps where, which room faces which direction, mud-brick houses arranged in a courtyard with the matriarch in the center like some kind of feudal throne room. And it's not just worldbuilding for the sake of it—it's a power map. The first and second branches get rooms closer to Old Mrs. Wang, the useful son Weimin gets a room on the west side near the kitchen, and the third branch? Squeezed into the southernmost room, two sons in one room, daughters in a STORAGE ROOM. That detail hit me like a truck. The physical space literally shows you who matters and who doesn't in this family. The courtyard isn't just a setting, it's a cage. And the fact that all twenty-plus members are crammed into one yard—no privacy, no escape, walls thin enough to hear everything—makes every confrontation feel suffocating. You can feel the heat too, especially that afternoon scene where the third branch doesn't show up for field work and the whole family is seething. The environment itself becomes a character pressing down on everyone.
Sorry did I do something wrong English isn't my native language is the word similar right for this situation?
The first hundred is a good test…
I remember reading this it was actually good for me. Hope the author makes new chapters.
It explains so much that I'm tempted to call it spoilers
