The Nangong family controlling natural resources while staying out of power struggles is another symbolic layer. They're the unseen force, the invisible hand, much like how the original author's plot controls Xu Yueyao's fate from behind the scenes. She's trapped in someone else's narrative, just like those natural resources are controlled by a family that never shows its face. And then there's the dream sequence itself—her skin being peeled away, the woman with 'innocent eyes' who is actually a monster. The contrast between appearance and reality runs through everything. Nangong Ying looks like a celestial fairy but wants to flay her alive. Fu Xiao Si acts like a careless rich kid but is calculating and cruel. Zhan Rong Xuan seems aloof and cold but reacts with murderous intensity when he hears Xu Yueyao's confession. The story keeps asking: who is really seeing whom, and who is being watched? That camera man under the bleachers? He's the reader, maybe. Or the author. Or fate itself, documenting everything for someone else's entertainment.

Just finished and wow what a great book it was as it told a great story and didnt drag out. I was addicted from page 1 as it was filled with excitement, tears of horror and happiness and will start book 2.
