Kids playing, people eating together, Ji Heng actually relaxing on the sofa. It feels safe. It feels like the story is letting you exhale. And then—BAM. Tires on gravel at 2 AM. Three black SUVs. 'Bang bang bang～ Open up, we're staying here.' The transition is so abrupt you literally feel the shift in your chest. One moment you're warm and full, the next you're bracing for impact. Chen Jinlong barging in with his sleazy energy, the way the author describes his 'lecherous gaze' making Qiao Xia clench his fists—that's tension you can feel. But here's what really got me: the fight starts and the chapter ENDS mid-action. Cai Yan freezing Chen Jinlong's fist, the cracking ice, the snapping bones, Chen Jinlong's muscles swelling three times their size, the wooden floor cracking under his weight—and then it just stops. 'He quickly realized he was at' WHAT. I had to immediately open the next chapter. The author didn't even let me process the fight before pulling the rug out. This is how you keep someone hooked. The dinner scene made me comfortable, and then the author punished me for it. Classic move.

The fight scenes are dragged out a bit which is fine and all but Mc acts like a brute most of the time during fights which kinda kills the characters diverse abilities.
This book is not only great grammatically, but the story is amazing so far. I love the build-up of the romance that is ongoing along with the main character being so strong. It is nice to have a spirited, strong, but also kind protagonist. He will stand up for himself, his family, and does not shy away from conflict or blood. Honestly, I love the story so far and I am so excited to continue reading more!
