"Every word they spoke was meant to brainwash Lin Rende—talking about scavenging rotten vegetables and how hard life was." This line absolutely captures everything I want to discuss about this chapter. The house isn't just a setting—it's the central symbol of the entire conflict. Lin Rende's courtyard is where this family has been consuming itself for years, and now it's finally going to split open. What's fascinating is how the house represents different things to different people. To Lin Rende, it's his legacy and the thing he's trying to hold onto by playing favorites. To Lin Rongzong's family, it's a resource to be harvested—they talk about filial piety while secretly calculating who can provide more materially. And to Lin Daheng's family, it's become a prison they're desperate to escape. The fact that Lin Daheng can get a two-bedroom apartment through the factory is significant too—it represents independence, a clean break from the toxic family system. The severance document they're going to sign at the neighborhood committee isn't just paperwork; it's a ritual of rebirth. They're choosing to redefine what family means on their own terms rather than accepting the role assigned to them. And Lin Zhaoyang's plan to mail that complaint letter? That's her claiming agency in a system that has repeatedly tried to silence her. The house gave them shelter but it also trapped them. Now they're walking out of it, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
I didn't even know pizzas can have corn.
As numerous other readers have pointed out, the pacing of the story became extremely hurried. There's a lack of tension or thrill while reading; it seems to fall flat after the protagonist eliminates the princess and the king. Although he took down significant figures, it doesn't justify the sudden drop. Why didn't he kill at least one classmate? That would have kept everyone guessing and added an element of suspense. Frankly, it would have been a lot more entertaining. For instance, a chapter from the student's perspective could have provided a fresh angle. No further commentary needed.
