overall another job well done there were points where I didn't like how the story was going but just had to trust the process and in the end the \\"villian\\" made me feel for him and wished him nothing but his own happiness
The story is pretty good, but at times just goes on and on. Very wordy and unnecessary dialogue. Drags out at times.

The stakes in this story are deceptively simple on the surface but the author layers them so effectively that every scene feels charged. Let's start with the immediate conflict: Lian Qiao has poisoned herself with a Gu that forces her to stay near Lu Wujiu or experience excruciating symptoms. She's trapped with the one person she's spent ten years trying to defeat, and he's the only one who knows her secret. That's not just awkward—that's a ticking time bomb. Every chapter is going to be a negotiation of power, and right now the balance is terrifyingly unclear. But the deeper stakes are what make this compelling. Lian Qiao's entire sense of self-worth is tied to being the best. The ninth-segment Spirit Root, the prodigy status, the admiration of everyone around her—all of it was defined in opposition to Lu Wujiu, and he invalidated it on his first day. The Gu forces her to confront that she can't outrun him, can't outsmart him, and can't even leave him. Her pride is on the line every single time she opens her mouth. Lu Wujiu's stakes are different but equally high. He's the Crown Prince who gave up everything to enter the Wuxiang Sect. He's the Sword Saint's disciple, the most talented cultivator in a hundred years. And yet here he is, powerless against a poison he can't identify, dependent on the one person he's spent a decade antagonizing. The vulnerability is real, even if he'd never admit it. The suspense is maintained brilliantly because neither character is truly safe. Lian Qiao could reveal his weakness to the world and destroy his reputation—but she can't leave him to do it. Lu Wujiu could theoretically force her to keep quiet—but the Gu affects him too, and we don't fully understand the rules yet. Every interaction is a high-wire act. And the external stakes are looming. The Four Great Families, the Wuxiang Sect politics, the rival mountains, the junior brother who switched his crush from Lian Qiao to Lu Wujiu—this world is full of people who would exploit either of their weaknesses. The Gu isn't the only threat. It's just the one that brings them together. I'm genuinely worried for both of them, which is impressive for a comedy. The author has made me care about people who spend 90% of their screen time insulting each other.
