Okay, let's talk about how this author absolutely GRIPS you and doesn't let go. The pacing in these chapters is masterful — it starts with a bang (literally, Old Lady Zhang bursting into the yard accusing Han Yue of theft) and then just keeps building, layer by layer, until you're completely breathless. What I love is how the author controls the tension like a violinist. The confrontation with Old Lady Zhang about the money — that's chapter 5, right? It's all heat and noise, Old Lady Zhang screaming, Han Yue staying cold and calm. Then suddenly, Chapter 6 shifts gears completely. We get this quiet, almost tender scene with the three children crying, and Han Yue pulling out White Rabbit milk candies from her space. The pacing breathes here. It lets you feel the weight of what these kids have been through before launching into the next confrontation. And then — BAM — the dinner scene. Sister Liu bringing food, the children laughing inside while Old Lady Zhang starves outside. The contrast is brutal and perfect. The author knows exactly when to make you laugh (Liumao eating like it's his last meal, the youngest son with rice grains hanging from his mouth) and when to make your heart ache. But the real pacing genius is the ending. After all this cathartic satisfaction of watching Han Yue finally stand up for herself and take back her husband's salary, buying the kids leather shoes and apples — and then WHAM. Two women grab her in an alley. The cliffhanger is so well-timed that I immediately opened the next chapter. No hesitation. The author knows exactly how to dangle the hook.
Subjectively evaluating the story might be challenging, but... it provided an unexpected solace I didn't realize I needed. My own struggles with depression and despair led me to view it as a form of therapeutic guidance. Reading the narrative allowed me to confront and process some of my emotions, preventing them from overwhelming me. Although not typically a person who easily cries, I was astonished by the depth of tears I experienced during this reading session. Each tear, in a way, seemed to alleviate the weight of sorrow slightly.
However, I believe that the story's strength lies in its serialized format, as it builds gradually. If read in isolated chapters, it might appear mundane or repetitive. The beauty of holding onto hope and fighting for recovery amidst darkness is best appreciated when the context unfolds gradually.
Rise of The P*rv*rt Primordial. Pretty good read. Similar to this one for sure. Like 620 something chapters out there.
