I need to talk about how this author controls the pacing because it's genuinely masterful. The chapter opens at maximum tension — a family dinner where everyone's pretending everything's fine, Pei Ye's silently investigating Wen Chu's boyfriend, and she's sitting there feeling this faint gaze on her but not knowing from where. The air is thick with unspoken things. Then — and this is where it's brilliant — Pei Ye leaves. The tension doesn't resolve, it just... shifts. Wen Chu thinks about Xi Liye, sends him a message, goes to the basketball court, and suddenly we're in this completely different tonal register. The cold air, the intense game, the whispered phone messages, the jacket exchange. The pacing here is almost leisurely, letting moments breathe — Xi Liye walking over to her, the awkward exchange about the chocolate, the nose-boop moment. And then the hug. Which is the emotional climax of the entire sequence, and it happens almost accidentally, born from a joke and bad coordination. The author doesn't build to it with dramatic music and slow motion — it just happens, and that's what makes it hit so hard. After the hug, instead of lingering on the romantic high, the author immediately pivots to Xi Liye's internal monologue about Qin Yu's relationship articles. This is such a smart structural choice — it undercuts the sweetness with humor and reveals Xi Liye's calculating nature, keeping us from getting too complacent. Then the tanghulu scene wraps everything up on a warm, almost domestic note, but that yellow light glowing in the winter darkness feels like a promise of more to come. The chapter flow is like a rollercoaster that dips and rises without you seeing it coming.

Hi. As for the review you asked.First, I absolutely loathe the whole ‘level up/stats' thing. When I found out your novel was following this path, it disappointed me a lot. But it’s my preference, and not a problem on how you write it. I decided not to read after reaching chapter 8.You write very well and I hope you know it. It’s fluid and coherent, so I feel I have little to review on this part. Now, about the plot. It’s intriguing to a certain extent, but perhaps a bit tiresome. A reader needs ups and downs to breath. But the first 8 chapters are a lot of ups. Keeping readers on their toes for a long made them mentally tired. And perhaps they don’t return to your book because it makes them holding their breath for too much time. It’d be good to intertwine with some humor or whatever. From what I read, there are two points that bothered me a bit, but after start reading chapter 8, I think only one is really important to mention. The first chapter. It’s not interesting nor made me thirsty for more. I found the part about the aboriginal tribe a better enticing introduction that the glimpse of future in the first chapter. I advise you to check with other readers their opinion about it as well. First chapters are crucial for getting readers.Anyway, your book is not everyone’s cup of tea, but is fairly well written and I wish you success.

An amazing story, I can't help but applaud the author. It never seemed cluttered or boring it is exciting from start to finish which is a testament not only to how good the author is at writing and how much effort he put into making this story fascinating.
