Bhumi was sitting on the sofa, fully dressed in the attire of a bride, with her heavy lehenga occupying the space for three people. The entire room smelled of wrapping paper, oils, and fatigue. Bhumi's mother, sister, mother-in-law, and other members of her family and extended family were sitting in solemn silence in the small suffocating room. Although Bhumi was the exalted bride, the happiness was missing from her countenance. At the moment, there was no exaltation or excitement in the room; everyone's eyes were fixated on Bhumi.
Then come Monday morning.
I am not a person who gets moved by settings usually but OH MY GOD the rain scene in Chapter 4. Let me paint this for you: It's 9:15 PM. Fan Shengmei has been standing outside Guokun Group's marble lobby for HOURS. Holding a seven-figure Hermès box. In the rain. Her Zara suit is soaked at the hem. And the author writes: "Her silhouette was unmistakable—the elegant curve of her neck like a swan's, the proud slope of her shoulders, and even in a cheap Zara jacket, the stubborn grace that clung to her frame." STUBBORN GRACE. That phrase alone is worth the price of this book. I literally gasped. And the contrast! The crystal chandeliers inside, warm and golden, reflecting off marble floors where the receptionist Chu Rongrong sneers at her. Outside: cold rain, silver petals bursting on the pavement, one solitary figure refusing to leave. The visual storytelling here is chef's kiss. Earlier, the banquet scene was equally cinematic—the stares cutting like knives, the crumpled rental contract landing face-up on the floor with her signature carved deep into the page, the address reading "Joyful Symphony Community, 22nd Floor." Every detail was a tiny camera angle, and I could SEE this. I could literally see the film being shot. Even the car scene between Meng Yancheng and Xu Qin had this claustrophobic intensity—the brakes screeching, the car lurching to a halt, the silence so thick you could hear the years of suppressed emotion roiling between them. The author doesn't need fancy descriptions; she just places the right detail at the right moment and the world builds itself.
"Well, Looks like I can one shot them." I said grinning.
"Why do you sound so wise?" Sinbad asked jokingly and continued "You're so old!" he started laughing while Leone pouted then knocked him on the head.
Li Mian had never met her grandfather. How would she if he didn't survive past 60?
"I'm okay, thanks for rescuing me." Smiling weakly, she hugged the taller girl.
Adrian had other plans...
"I guess, you miss your family," Chen had paused, "But this is for our families." He stole a glance over his shoulder. The boy sitting on the edge of the fountain had turned his head towards him. The first thing that had caught him off guard was the fact that the boy had two different eye colours. The second was what he uttered next.
The car seats of the vehicle Raven was in were uncomfortable to say the least. He felt like he spent the whole ride just trying to find a spot where he was safe from getting sucked in and lost.
"Sheela... Are you being serious now? How can we abandon them in this thick woods? Aren't they just little kids?" The girl was a little angry with the remark made by Sheela.
