Good read. I can recommend this to anybody. This was the first book i finished.

I really love this story
Let me just say this: the stakes in this opening are INSANE and I am here for it. Xiao Muchen is being WHIPPED to near death. His military post is revoked. The family is facing exile. Their home is being stripped bare. And the one person who could actually save them is the woman everyone hates most. What makes this conflict so compelling is that it operates on multiple levels simultaneously. There's the immediate physical danger — Xiao Muchen will DIE without medicine. There's the social danger — Sun Tong is actively trying to destroy them, and he's empowered by the imperial decree. There's the interpersonal danger — the family's distrust of Cheng Lan means she can't simply command obedience; she has to EARN trust while racing against time. And there's the internal danger — Cheng Lan has to manage her spatial powers without revealing them, which means every action requires careful calculation. The Sun Tong character is perfectly designed as an antagonist. He's petty, cruel, and personally invested — he was Xiao Muchen's lieutenant and resented being looked down upon. When he says "I really have your mother to thank. Your younger siblings, your wife, and your child will all fall into my hands from now on!" — that's not just villainy, that's personal vengeance. It makes him feel real. The suspense is maintained masterfully because every solution Cheng Lan finds creates new problems. She gets the medicine, but Xiao Yunqing thinks she's hoarding it. She stops Sun Tong from killing Xiao Muchen, but now the family is under house arrest with no way out. The author keeps raising the stakes with every chapter turn, and I'm completely hooked.
I just started reading this book, but I can already tell that it's going to be a rollercoaster of emotions. Keep up the good work!
Can the story move faster, less talking and more action
We all deserve a second chance to see life in the best perspective. Love the storyline. Indeed different from the others. I really have the feeling that Riley just need to express himself and this book introduced and explained him well. Love all the series ......
