I'll keep it short this will be the first review, and I'm not saying anything nice. There's no world building. The academy has no presence. When academy-related things are mentioned it's only to justify why an event is happening. Even that's not done properly as I still don't know how the academy operates. I'll stop here. Give it a try to see if you like it

Okay so let me just say—Bai Jinshu is absolutely *chef's kiss* right now. Like, the woman walked into that room, fed Liu Xiangyun a laxative, called it poison, and then casually tossed her the "antidote" which was literally a lump of mud. The audacity. I love her. But what really got me is Ao Jing. This guy is such a walking red flag and I love that the narrative doesn't let him off the hook. He was tied to a chair, covered in his own mess from Liu Xiangyun's "toxic" situation, and his first instinct was to yell at Bai Jinshu. Classic. Absolutely classic. He's so blind to the fact that Liu Xiangyun faked a pregnancy to frame HIS wife that it's almost impressive. The moment Liu Xiangyun crawled to Ao Jing sobbing "I'm sorry Brother Jing" while covered in... well, you know... and he was fighting the urge to vomit? That scene was GOLD. He couldn't even look at her. And yet she still had the nerve to manipulate him. This woman is a menace and I'm here for it. Also—Prince Ling. Who IS this man? Bai Jinshu literally saw him the night before and he looked like a demonic monster with purple veins on his face. Now he's in a wheelchair, pale as death, but still somehow the most intimidating person in the room. The Imperial Physicians were trembling. The EMPRESS was tense. This guy clearly runs things behind the scenes and nobody—not even royalty—dares cross him. Bai Jinshu's reaction when she recognized him? Her heart JOLTED. Something happened between them that I need to know about. The dynamic between Bai Jinshu and Ao Jing is so deliciously broken. She used to beg to marry him. Now she's the one holding the antidote and telling him to stay and keep his concubine company. The tables have turned so hard I got whiplash.
