Can we talk about how GOOD the dialogue is in this section? Like, genuinely, the author has given every character a voice that's instantly recognizable. Shen Zhaozhao's dialogue is sharp, strategic, and laced with this dark humor that comes from someone who's been through hell and decided to weaponize it. 'Smart man. You're strong, fit, and built like a tank—surely you wouldn't make a helpless woman sleep on the floor?' She's threatening him while complimenting him while making him sign a document. That's three moves in one sentence and I'm obsessed. Gu Shichuan? The man says almost nothing and every word lands. 'You've changed.' Two words. That's it. But it carries the weight of someone who's spent his whole life being invisible and suddenly sees the person across from him as a complete stranger who might be the only one who actually *sees* him. And Fu Shixuan's dialogue is so deliberately gentle it almost hurts. 'I'm sorry. For what happened this morning.' No defensiveness, no 'but actually you drugged me.' Just pure, unadulterated accountability. His voice is soft but unbreakable, and it contrasts beautifully with Shen Zhaozhao's razor edges. The narrative voice itself is fascinating too — it shifts between Shen Zhaozhao's cold calculations and moments of genuine vulnerability without ever feeling inconsistent. When she rubs her waist and thinks about her back hurting, the narration gets this almost physical quality. You can feel the ache. When she's strategizing, the prose tightens and becomes clinical. The author knows exactly which voice to use for which emotional beat. Also the line 'We're two of a kind, aren't we?' between Shen Zhaozhao and Gu Shichuan? That's not just dialogue. That's a thesis statement for the entire novel.
have u read a novel abt a mob character(sentient) in a eroge game who slowly replaces the game character and fls/harem people are yanderes? oh nvm I kinda remember it, it was one of the narrate the mob characters thoughts and fls find out abt plot but still dont know title...
I initially shared my thoughts on the Foxaholic website regarding this story, and I'd like to reiterate here. Despite some shortcomings in character development, such as inconsistent motivations or illogical decisions, the story stands out due to its creative flair within the iseaki genre. The protagonist's magic, known as Abyss Magic, is nothing short of extraordinary – he can conjure hags forcing insects down victims' throats, summon a nurse with projectile organs, or control a giant grinning face to devour anything. The sheer uniqueness of the magical abilities alone makes the story worth reading.
Additionally, the author attempts to create intrigue and suspense, which I generally enjoy, although it can sometimes feel rushed or overshadowed by the protagonist's preference for exploring the world without delving into mysteries.
What sets this novel apart, in my opinion, is the atmosphere it conveys – a difficult-to-pinpoint quality that extends to the manga adaptation, where the artwork complements the narrative beautifully. I believe this atmosphere contributes to the story's distinctiveness among others in the iseaki category.
Lastly, I am saddened by the lack of translations available. I fondly remember the days of daily updates and sincerely hope to complete this captivating tale someday.
o thanks gang
