i really enjoyed. Loved all the characters and book .
This book is a great reading. Good job, author!
This chapter is a masterclass in building tension through underestimation. Wang Quan walks into that market like he owns it—because in a way he does—and he completely dismisses Lin Yue's cold noodles. He sends his chefs to threaten a vendor and a child, he spits out tofu, he acts like nothing could possibly impress him. And then within three scenes, he's on his knees begging for jelly while his master fires him. The stakes shift so quickly it's dizzying. One moment Wang Quan is the most powerful person in the room and the next he's crawling toward Lin Yue saying "Give me... no, I'll take all your jelly!" The butler who threw food at a six-year-old is now the one being thrown away. It's satisfying but it's also a reminder of how fragile power is in this world. Wang Quan thought he was untouchable because he had chefs and a master behind him. But Master Song didn't come from nowhere—he's a senior official who served three emperors. Wang Shi wasn't just some random landlord. Wang Quan had no idea who he was messing with. And Lin Yue's stakes throughout are quieter but real. She's trying to build a business, save money for a water jar and an iron pot and spices and a hoe and a new house. Every transaction matters. Every customer matters. When Wang Quan threatens her stall, it's not just about pride—it's about whether she can keep feeding her family. The fact that she stays calm and apologizes while internally wanting to scream "I still prefer the rebellious look you just had" shows how much she's holding back. The conflict here isn't epic battles or life-or-death drama. It's a steward vs. a street vendor and the vendor wins because her product is better. Sometimes the stakes are just about dignity and a good meal and that's enough to make me care.
Another amazing book!!!!!! Thank you Author!! I'm headed to the third!
